Which Bookies Have the Best Royal Ascot Promotions?

Finding the best bookmaker for you means taking into account a few different things, like how you bet, any strategies you use and what promotions are most important to you.

For example, if you like betting each-way on bigger-prices, we would recommend Sky Bet as the best bookmaker for you as the offer the most extra place races. However, this does mean their prices are unlikely to be the best on offer.

Paddy Power tends to be very generous with free bet promotions and boosts and while they are usually lower value free bets, we find they still offer a great way to enjoy the sport while keeping your stakes low.

Betfair are an expert in the field, often offering competitive prices, especially on the Betfair Exchange. We would recommend Betfair for those with slightly more experience betting as they allow you to take advantage of moving markets and assessing races to find the best price.

Ultimately, it will depend on your experience in the betting world and what is most important to you. It can also help to look at the other sports you might be interested in betting in, as they all have different offerings for that too.

Royal Ascot Enhanced Odds & Price Boosts Explained

Around the major racing festivals this summer, particularly Royal Ascot, you might see offers around enhanced odds or price boosts for certain races. Take a look at a quick introduction to both and how you can use them to your advantage.

Royal Ascot Enhanced Odds Offers

Enhanced Odds Offers are a type of welcome offer that will give you hugely boosted odds on a single selection that is usually a short price. For example, the offer might by Kyprios to win the Royal Ascot Gold Cup enhanced from 11/10 to 50/1. The catch with this offer is that the max stake is £1 and winnings are paid out in free bets.

That being said, they are a hugely popular offer, and we wouldn’t put you off claiming them! They do obviously come with an element of risk, as there is no guarantee the horse will win but they are a great way to start your betting account with a low stakes bet with huge upside. These offers are also only available to new customers.

Royal Ascot Price Boosts

Price boosts are a great way to get some extra value when placing bets in horse racing. It gives you an increased price for a specific selection, often on one of the favourites to encourage you to bet with that bookmaker. They are offers available to both new and existing customers around big races or festivals.

For example, Aidan O’Brien’s exciting horse, Albert Einstein, could be 3/1 for the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and the bookies might offer an exclusive price boost to 9/2. The boost will usually have a max stake (for most customers it is £10) and usually can’t be included in other multiples.

If you are planning to back the selection that is boosted, we definitely recommend taking the boosted price to get even better value!

Are Royal Ascot Free Bets Worth It?

Yes, free bets are a great way to enjoy Royal Ascot without having to stake too much of your own money! Most free bet offers will have qualifying criteria, usually depositing or placing a first bet but once you have done this you will be credited your free bets and you can use them how you see fit!

This means you could enjoy Royal Ascot and bet in several races without staking your own money. As a new customer you can get the most generous free bet offers, with between £30-60 available depending on the bookmaker offer.

As an existing customer there are still plenty of chances to get free bets, while the amount is usually smaller (typically between £1-£10) they are still a great way to enjoy the racing without having to stake your own money!

Live Betting During Royal Ascot

Betting in-play during horse races can be fun way to get involved in the action once a race has started. During Royal Ascot you are able to bet in-play on all the races with our bookmaker partners. In-play betting can be difficult on some of the Royal Ascot races because of how quick they are over and as such it is usually quite rare.

Some of the shorter races, over 5 or 6 furlongs, can be over in less than a minute! If you decide to bet in play there can be added value found however there are a few things to consider if you are looking to bet in-play.

  • Once the race starts, there is usually a short period of time where you are not able to place any bets as the in-play market has not been opened yet.
  • In-play markets are incredible volatile, the smallest change in the field order can cause a huge swing in prices.
  • When watching the racing, you need to bear in mind there is often a delay in the stream or program which is not reflected in the odds. This means when you bet in-play you may be betting on odds that are 4 or 5 seconds ahead of what you are watching.

While it can be a difficult bet style to get right because of how fast-paced it is, in-play betting can be a fun and engaging way to enjoy races.

Royal Ascot Offers for Existing Customers – Where to Find Them

Existing customer offers can be found on the homepage of your betting app or on the specific event, however we also gather the leading free bet offers from our bookmaker partners here so you can find them all in one place!

Top Tips for Betting on Royal Ascot Races

Check out some top tips for betting at Royal Ascot, whether you are betting on the best horses in the world competing in Group races or the big field handicaps, these tips can help you understand how a race might go:

  • Take a look at form – By the time Royal Ascot rolls around most horses will have run a few times, take a look at their recent results, paying attention to the distance, ground, and track to see who has performed well in similar races
  • Ascot Performances – Ascot has a long straight that can sometimes catch horses and jockeys out, take a look at who has experience tackling the difficult finish.
  • Draw Bias – Draw bias can have a huge impact on how a race will unfold. Historically Ascot has had a draw bias towards the lower stalls but is known for being somewhat unpredictable with its draw bias. The first few races can be hugely informative.
  • Be wary of the “Hype Horses” – Sometimes the crowd reacts to the name of the jockey or trainer more than the horse’s ability, be wary of the “hype horses” and consider whether the horse is the right price
  • It’s a Long Festival – Five days’ of action are on the card at Ascot. Pick your opportunities to place a bet, especially in the first few races when things like the ground, draw bias and in-form trainers can become more apparent!
  • Go Each-Way – We explain what each-way betting is in the next section, but with some huge fields and tricky handicaps on offer betting each-way can help you get a nice return even if your horse doesn’t win.

Each-Way Betting Explained for Royal Ascot

Each-way betting is hugely popular at Royal Ascot, with huge fields and competitive handicaps often throwing up big-priced winners. You can read a full guide to each-way betting or check out a quick overview below:

Each-way betting essentially means you are placing two bets on a horse. One bet on the horse to win at the shown odds and a second bet on the horse to finish placed at either 1/5 or 1/4 of the odds. This is why your stake doubles when you select each-way in the bet slip.

Lets work through an example, lets say you place a £5 each-way bet on Horse A at 20/1. The each-way terms are 1/5 for the first 5 places. The below are your potential returns:

If Horse A wins you would get a total return of £130 (including your £10 total stake), £100 from the win part and £20 from the place part.

If Horse A finishes in the first 5 but doesn't win you would get a total return of £25 (including your £10 initial stake)

If your horse does not finish in the first 5 you would not get a return and both parts of the bet would lose.

Each-way terms vary from race to race, both with the number of places they will pay on whether it is 1/5 or ¼ of the odds. While there are industry standards, most bookmakers offer extra places, especially Sky Bet, so you will need to check on each race.

Royal Ascot Live Streaming

Streaming Royal Ascot is easy with Sky Bet, Paddy Power and Betfair allowing you to stream races as long as you have placed a bet recently. You are not shown any of the punditry around the races if you choose to stream this way.

Alternatively, ITV will be showing most races at Royal Ascot which means streaming will also be possible on ITVX.

The final paid option is to use RacingTV, a subscription that will show every race at Royal Ascot, plus punditry and analysis between races. You can usually get a trial period to cover the festival if you don’t want to commit to monthly payments.

Understanding the Form: Picking Winners at Royal Ascot

Understanding form can take years of experience and racing knowledge, but it is a key part of understanding how a race might develop and potentially finding a winning selection. We have a full guide on understanding form or you can check out these helpful tips for understanding it.

How do I read horse racing form?

When looking at a race you will see a few pieces of information shown by three letters, J (Jockey), T (Trainer), and F (Form). Form is shown by a mixture or letters and numbers and indicate the previous results for that horse.

While it doesn’t tell you the full story of each race, it gives you an idea of how the horse has been doing. The below key helps you read form:

  • Numbers 1-9 = Finishing position
  • “P” = Pulled Up
  • “U”= Unseated Rider
  • “F” = The horse fell to the ground
  • “-“ = Indicates a new season
  • “0” = The horse finished the race outside the first 9.

Form is read with the most recent result on the right, for example a horse’s form line reading 5-P3421 will have won most recently.

What should I consider when reading form?

While the abbreviations are handy to give you a quick idea of who has been winning recently or not, it does leave out information like the race type, distance, going, course, and jockey changes.

To really understand how a horse might suit the current race, you will want to expand the form box (done in most betting apps by pressing the name of the selection, not the odds). Once you do this you will get extra information from the previous races to help you make an informed decision.

What should I specifically know for Royal Ascot?

Royal Ascot is one of the most competitive Flat meetings and can often throw up surprise results and big prices. Royal Ascot’s course, particularly the longer races on the round course, can sometimes catch riders and horses out due to its long home straight.

There is no concrete rulebook to understanding Royal Ascot races, but the data experts at Timeform best describe the differences in course and distance during the festival:

The round course is a right-handed, galloping, triangular circuit of a mile and three quarters, with a run-in of two and a half furlongs. Ascot also has a straight mile course, which tends to drain better than the round course.

Generally speaking, prominent racers fare significantly better than those held up over five furlongs, but the opposite is true over seven furlongs/a mile, while on the round course those that race in the first half of the field over a mile and a quarter have a better record than those caught further back.

Current Winningest Active Royal Ascot Trainer

Understandably, the master of Ballydoyle, Aidan O’Brien is the current winningest trainer in Royal Ascot history. He has racked up 85 wins at the festival and will likely be in the running for almost every race yet again, with a team as strong as it is deep.

Can New Customers Claim Multiple Royal Ascot Free Bets?

The dress code for Royal Ascot is almost as iconic as the racing, with top hats and tails for the men and flamboyant headpieces and colourful dresses for the women creating some of racing’s most impressive pageantry.

Dress code does depend on which enclosure you are in, we take a look at the typical dress codes for each enclosure below:

Windsor Enclosure

The most relaxed enclosure, there is no official dress code, but smart daywear is still encouraged and adhered to. With most men wearing a suit and collared shirt while women wear dresses.

Despite the relaxed dress code, there is no fancy dress, novelty clothing or promotional items allowed.

Village Enclosure

The Village enclosure asks for slightly more restricted clothing, with women required to wear a dress or top and skirt, albeit with no minimum length requirement. Men are required to wear a suit jacker of blazer, although not necessarily made of the same material.

Accessories such as ties for men and a hat or headpiece for women are also required in this enclosure.

Queen Anne Enclosure

The Queen Anne Enclosure follows a similar pattern to the Village enclosure for women, however men are now required to wear a full-length two- or three-piece suit, with the jacket and trousers made of matching material.

Royal Enclosure

As expected, the Royal Enclosure has what most view as the ‘typical’ Royal Ascot style. Women are required to wear a dress or skirt falling just above the knee or longer, as well as hats or a headpiece with diameter of at least 10cm.

For men, full Morning dress is required in black, grey or navy. This includes a top hat, necktie and waistcoat. This iconic enclosure calls back to the rich history of Royal Ascot and is a key part of the Ascot experience for racegoers.

The Royal Ascot fashion experience may seem incredibly stricy but it is often represented across the enclosures, with many racegoers opting for the full morning suit attire regardless of their ticket.

It is held annually in June and dates back to the 1800s, making it one of the oldest racing festivals in the world. What Are the Most Popular Royal Ascot Races to Bet On?

Almost every race at Royal Ascot brings in both regular punters and casual fans but we have picked out a few of the most popular betting races at Royal Ascot according to our team.

Queen Anne Stakes (Day 1)

The opening race festivals is always a popular betting race and the Queen Anne Stakes takes this to the extreme with a huge £750,000 prize pot attracting the best milers in the sport.

While it is no stranger to favourites winning, like Charyn (ISP 10/3) did in 2024, it has also thrown up surprise winners like Triple Time did at 33/1 in 2023!

Coventry Stakes (Day 1)

Immediately after The Queen Anne Stakes, the Coventry Stakes shows off the other side of Royal Ascot with a big field charging straight home in this 6f sprint race.

With extra places on offer with most bookmakers, the big prices have fared well in this race. In 2024 the race was won by 80/1 selection Rashabar who narrowly beat the 40/1 Electrolyte and the 50/1 Columnist!

The Coventry Stakes was also previously won by 150/1 horse Nando Parrado, one of the biggest price winners at Royal Ascot!

Gold Cup (Day 3)

The headline of the meeting is undoubtedly the Gold Cup, with the winner landing a huge prize pot of over £360,000 it brings out the best stayers in the world. While it doesn’t always throw up the biggest surprises, it is a betting favourite despite the smaller field.

The current favourite is Kyprios, who would be searching for his third Gold Cup win at Ascot.

Buckingham Palace Stakes (Day 3)

The infamous cavalry charge attracts one of the largest fields and with a straight line sprint over 6f, is brings a level of excitement to the crowd that fans often bet on. As with most big field races it is no stranger to a big-priced winner, further encouraging punters to try and land bigger-priced winners.

The 2024 edition was won by English Oak who stormed home to win by 3 lengths over Billyjoy.

Sandringham Stakes (Fillies’ Handicap) (Day 4)

Another big field handicap captures the bettors imagination for the same reason as the Buckingham Palace Stakes. A big field, often over 25 runners, means more places offered by bookmakers and the tempting chance of landing a big price winner in this 1 mile contest.

Soprano won the 2024 race under a great ride from Billy Loughnane for George Boughey.
