Lost his way a little after racking up a sequence of solid efforts early last year; now well handicapped as a result and shaped with promise last time out. Looks the better option of the stable's two entrants for this and one to monitor in the betting. Off-putting that the yard is struggling for winners at present, though.

King Crimson12

Out of form at present and doesn't have the best record at this course; opposable despite being quite well handicapped on the very best of his turf form.

Waneen12
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-5| J: J F Egan| T: J Butler| OR:  68
12/1
Struggled to cope with a rise in the weights after landing a couple of belated AW successes last year but is now back on a winning mark. On face value, his recent efforts have been poor but he does have the beating of the likes of Cross Fire on these terms, so no forlorn hope. One to bear in mind if the market vibes are positive.

Dangerously well handicapped on the pick of his form and holds the bragging rights over a few of these from recent encounters. Goes well at this course and is better than he showed last time out. He has won in a visor in the past, so also of interest that connections persevere with the application this time around.

Treaty Of Romev33

9/2
Dropping to the minimum trip worked the oracle over C&D last time out and, given how that form has a solid feel in the context of this race, another bold bid looks likely from this relatively unexposed individual. More to offer than most, so is sure to be a popular choice; but worth bearing in mind that a 5llb higher mark makes life tougher on this occasion.

Powerful Windt46
Age: 8|  Weight: 9-2| J: B A Curtis| T: C Wallis| OR:  65
5/1
Won from a 5lb higher mark on the turf last season but has registered a mixed bag of results back on the AW this winter. Not without a chance on the best of his performances, but is hard to predict and is difficult to recommend on the form he showed last time out.

Ryedale Rio230
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: Rachel Richardson(3)| T: T D Easterby| OR:  64
66/1
Makes his AW debut at a realistic level but is very hard to fancy on the form he showed towards the end of last season on the turf; and appeals only as one to watch this time around.

Evanescent62
Age: 8|  Weight: 9-0| J: R Winston| T: A W Carroll| OR:  63
25/1
Best when able to dominate but has a poor record on the AW tracks and, given the poor level of his recent form, he makes limited appeal on this occasion.

Red Invader19
Age: 7|  Weight: 8-13| J: L P Keniry| T: J Butler| OR:  62

Switched yards at the turn of the year but has failed to impress in three starts for his current handlers. Just 1lb above his last winning mark, so well treated if he can turn back the clock though.

Misu Moneypennyp8
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-12| J: Robbie Walsh(7)| T: S Dixon| OR:  61
25/1
Won a maiden auction over C&D on her debut last May; before landing a handicap off a mark of 66 shortly afterwards. Well treated on a literal reading of the latter performance, but she has become frustrating to follow. Also possible that she is better on turf these days.

Dusty Blue64
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-11| J: S De Sousa| T: M Appleby| OR:  60
11/2
Out of sorts towards the back end of last year and is difficult to forward with any confidence after a string of lacklustre efforts. The recent switch to an in-form stable may initiate some improvement, but recent form suggests she may need at least another furling these days.

Forecasts

Crosse Fire (9/4), Treaty Of Rome (9/2), Powerful Wind (5/1), Dusty Blue (11/2), Red Stripes (11/1), Waneen (12/1), Red Invader (16/1), King Crimson (20/1), Misu Moneypenny (25/1), Evanescent (25/1), Ryedale Rio (66/1)

Verdict

There may be a bit more to come from TREATY OF ROME now that he has discovered what it takes to win a race. The former Aidan O'Brien-trained gelding won well last time out, and appeals as one capable of following up, even though he has a 5lb higher mark to contend with this time around. Red Stripes is capable of making an impact at this level and can make this a good test. As can Waneen, who also appeals as one for the list in this grade. Cross Fire is also capable of giving each-way punters a good run for the money, while stablemate Misu Moneypenny will be one to bear in mind for a small handicap somewhere along the line once the turf season comes around.
