Progressed well when winning five times in 2020, including in Champions Sprint at Ascot. Big effort when runner-up in Diamond Jubilee last time and dangerous if he gets loose in front.

Has come a long way in a short space of time and landed Duke of York Stakes last month, finding more when challenged and winning with a bit in hand. Progressive, and makes plenty of appeal.

Already a dual winner this term, including when beating Oxted in Abernant Stakes on Rowley course. No impact up in grade since, and set for another struggle.

Verdict

DRAGON SYMBOL, although demoted in the Commonwealth Cup, underlined his capabilites at this level, and there have been no signs of a chink in his armour yet, so he gets the marginal vote. Last season’s winner, Oxted, is another obvious danger, while both Starman and Rohaan have similar profiles to the selection in that they arrive firmly on the up, so they warrant a favourable mention, too.
