Losing run mounting up but is 6lb below last winning mark, and has not enjoyed much luck in running on his last two starts. All his wins have come on AW, but dangerous to dismiss all the same.

Sprung a 100/1 shock on racecourse bow, and only win since at Salisbury (1m) in September for this rider. Ran badly on return from a break at Kempton last month, and not one to trust, for all he has the ability to go close from his current mark.

Returned to winning ways at Goodwood last month with blinkers refitted, and aggressive tactics were slightly overdone when second of 8 to In The Cove at Chepstow last time. Has won here in the past, and should remain competitive.

Won a 7f Lingfield claimer in March and ran well in handicaps there and at Goodwood subsequently. Good run came to an abrupt end last time, though, hanging as if something was amiss.

Largely disappointing for Mick Appleby in 2019, and no sign of a revival in two starts for current yard this summer. Sliding in the weights, but of little interest until showing more sparkle.

Yet to win on turf (placed nine times in 24 runs) but scored over 7f at Kempton in November and scrambled home at Chelmsford last time from Blame Culture. Up just 2lb for that, and folly to dismiss now.

Looking very well handicapped these days but you've got to go back to 2017 to find the last time he got his head in front. Better than the bare result when fourth of 11 to Oloroso at Newbury last time, and should be competitive.

Somewhat inconsistent in a busy 2019 campaign but returned with a very respectable second of 11 at Lingfield, and matched that form when runner-up at Chelmsford last time. Claims on those efforts, but palpably less effective on turf.

Something of a Kempton specialist, but got his head in front at Lingfield from this mark last month. Not discredited since, but just 1-20 on turf, and generally opposable on this surface.

Below form since a creditable third at Lingfield in January, and has yet to win in 16 starts in handicap company. Unproven beyond sprint trips, and opposable for all he's tumbling in the weights.

Prolific on the AW over the years, taking career tally to nine at Lingfield in January. Below form on both starts since returning from a break last month, however, and hard to see him gaining his first turf success now.

Not the easiest of rides, but landed weak novices at Yarmouth and Redcar early last season, and got back to form when 2½ lengths fourth of 11 to Hunni at Newmarket on her return. Not certain to build on that given her patchy profile.

Similar form in two starts to date, looking a work in progress. Opening mark is stiff, but he's impossible to weigh up accurately, and this immaculately-bred gelding is open to improvement as he gains experience.

Dual 5f AW winner as a two-year-old, but just respectable efforts in two starts this season. Better than result when tongue tied at Pontefract last time, but has stamina to prove at this new trip.

Forecasts

Conscious (5/2), Full Intention (5/1), Blame Culture (7/1), Dourado (17/2), Sir Roderic (17/2), Nirodha (9/1), Martineo (12/1), Alfie Solomons (18/1), Coverham (18/1), Thechildren'strust (20/1), Colonel Whitehead (22/1), Juanito Chico (33/1), Jackpot Royale (66/1), Holiday Magic (100/1)

Verdict

As with Zuhoor in the previous race, CONSCIOUS merits maximum respect despite the mark he's been given looking stiff. He qualifies for handicaps under new rules, and is bred to be much better than he's been able to show, so should have a major role to play. Sir Roderic is running well, and is a C&D winner off considerably higher in the past, so can pick up the pieces if the selection fails to progress as expected. Full Intention cannot be knocked in terms of consistency, and has obvious place claims once more.
