Former Aidan O'Brien inmate has had a decent time of things on testing ground lately including a win over 7f on heavy going at Epsom. 7lb higher now and likelihood of much faster ground a worry.

Progressive throughout this, his first year of racing. Won twice on AW and placed in all three starts since including his latest after a short break at Doncaster over 7f. Handicap rising all the time but form matching it.

Mostly disappointing this season but he has twice won over C&D on good to firm going and is now 6lb lower than latest of those. May not be the force of old, draw could be great or impossible, earlier races will guide.

Over a year since he won and not getting any younger. Ran well two starts ago when fourth over C&D but below par latest. Ground may be quick enough here.

Does most of his racing on AW and not seen since 11th of 12 at Newcastle in July. Hard to fancy him on that effort with this much weight.

Three close up efforts in turf maidens including over C&D followed by AW win over 7f at Chelmsford. Looked difficult ride at times so fact he is now gelded and in first time hood both interesting on his handicap debut.

Won off today's mark back in June at Lingfield but form poor since. Changed yards now but hard to fancy on recent effort and draw on the wing limits options.

Last of this veteran's 11 wins came over two years ago and against young up and coming rivals he will likely find things tough.

Three career wins all come over 6f and raced exclusively at that distance in four starts for current yard. Latest run at Kempton better and suggested worth another crack over this trip. On a workable mark.

Beautifully bred and lightly raced filly on the up. Won over C&D to start a treble concluding at Kempton after a layoff. Trainer extremely shrewd with handicappers so market support highly significant and merits maximum respect.

Looked useful when running away with a maiden on the July course. Disappointed in two subsequent handicaps but handicapper giving rapid relief so better effort expected.

Won over 7f on fast ground at Sandown in July. Struggled with higher mark since and still 4lb higher on first start for new yard.

Won one of seven career starts, over 7f at Yarmouth. Remained competitive with higher mark next twice before shade disappointing at Kempton latest where given plenty to do. Slight relief gives her an each-way shout.

Not built on debut win including in latest two handicap races here and at Doncaster. Eased 3lbs for each so better likely soon for top trainer and not totally out of this if drawn on correct side.

Ran well first time back after layoff at Newbury over 6f last week on soft ground. Handles quicker ground but bounce factor to contend with turned out quickly and draw limits options.

Showed once again that he prefers quick ground last time when a sound second at Epsom. Had a short break since but definitely competitive off this mark if rain stays away and middle draw limits chance of being in wrong group.

Won going away in a 6f Redcar maiden latest. Makes handicap debut here and leading Northern trainer surely not come this far with one in a race worth £5,000 to the winner unless he fancies it.

Forecasts

Yellowhammer (5/1), Pastime (7/1), Top Mission (7/1), London (10/1), Give It Some Teddy (12/1), Highland Colori (12/1), Parnassian (12/1), Multicultural (14/1), Right Action (14/1), Firmdecisions (14/1), Robin Weathers (14/1), Musical Comedy (16/1), Case Key (16/1), Able Jack (20/1), Working Class (20/1), Dalton (20/1), Welliesinthewater (25/1), Scottish Glen (25/1), Lady Freyja (25/1), Medburn Dream (33/1)

Verdict

With 20 runners going to post the notoriously inconsistent draw bias of the Rowley Mile will surely be crucial and it must be noted where the fields head earlier in the day. At this stage the safest bet is to go towards the middle which is helpful with two live chances drawn centrally in YELLOWHAMMER who is on the upgrade and represents top connections preferred to Right Action who will go well providing the forecast rain isn't too heavy. If low draws are favoured the unexposed Give It Some Teddy and improving Pastime both enter calculations. Conversely if high draws are the way to go Parnassian looks on a mark where he ought to go close.
  1. Yellowhammer
  2. Right Action
  3. Give It Some Teddy
