Won a seller at Lingfield in the summer and mainly moderate efforts since then, but back to form when a close seventh at Wolverhampton latest and gets another helping hand from the handicapper. Well drawn and not ruled out.

Best recent run came over this trip when second at Lingfield in June, but has gone backwards since then and inconsistency has crept into his work too. Needs to bounce back to best, but does have a decent draw to work from.

Only the one win in 18 starts and a few too many runner-up spots for comfort. Has form at both this trip and a mile though, and handles the surface fine, so chances if wound up on first run back after an absence.

Not really going anywhere fast, and efforts this summer have seen a slow regression. Not really finishing his races off to any degree, so the addition of the tongue-tie today may help, but on balance, others preferred.

Kept busy, as he usually is (this will be his 155th start) and ran well over this C&D two starts back, but overall win record suggests there's usually something to beat him and likely that will be the case again here.

Winner on soft at Nottingham in July (not unfancied despite big price tag) and although he's not run to that level since, wasn't disgraced last time and may go well. Stall 10 not idea, though, and others are preferred.

As is often the case with ones from this yard, takes a huge step up in trip for handicap debut and on breeding, that will suit. Entered up again on Saturday and may well be the sort to run up a late-season sequence. Has to be considered.

Going nowhere fast at present and looks very regressive. Steps up in trip here but no sign that he needs it, and makes little appeal.

On the plus side, is a C&D winner (back in December 2015) but wins are few and far between, and he's not really doing anything at present to suggest he's about to come good again.

Has shown very little in her 18-race career to date to think she can get involved, but the straw to cling to is the move to the Neil Mulholland yard, who have an 18% strike rate first time up with others castoffs. Market will give the best clue.

Often plugs on at the end of his races, regardless of trip, and is clearly one-paced, but the addition of blinkers could wake his ideas up a bit. Good jockey booking, but shocking draw enough to make you look elsewhere for thew winner.

Tailed off most starts and hard to see why it should be any different here. Makes little appeal, with this trip another unknown.

Forecasts

Kohinoor Diamond (7/2), Malt Teaser (7/2), Broughtons Knight (9/2), Gold Merlion (7/1), Bicolour (7/1), Champagne Rules (10/1), King Kevin (11/1), Outlaw Torn (12/1), Struck By The Moon (12/1), Simply Clever (20/1), Jazri (20/1), Raashdy (25/1), Lady Volante (25/1), Rubheira (50/1), Jungle George (66/1)

Verdict

GOLD MERLION could be the answer here. Drawn to attack from stall 4, he looked like he was on the way back to form despite only finishing seventh on his most recent start. He could be hard to catch if allowed to dictate the pace. Kohinoor Diamond is your typical Sir Mark Prescott improver for a step up in trip, but she will be well found by the market and may not represent much value. Simply Clever ticks plenty of boxes and can go close if fit. Bicolour and Lady Volante are worth a look in the market.
