Ran well without winning in 2016 including when beaten a nose off a 2lb lower mark at Ayr on soft ground in October. Has disappointed twice on the AW since but interesting despite poor draw with underfoot conditions likely to suit.
Winner of a valuable contest over 1m at Thirsk in April 2016 but disappointed in the main since. Wore cheekpieces (absent here) when a close third over 1m on soft ground at Ayr in September but likely to improve for the run with an unfavourable draw also.
Successful on the AW over this trip at Newcastle on debut for current yard in January. Put a poor subsequent effort behind him when finishing fourth at the same track last time out and wears blinkers and eyeshield combination for the first time in this.
Successful twice in 2016 including on his second outing since being gelded over 1m at Newmarket in October. Has been raised 7lb for that effort and yard is going well at present (3/9).
Short-head winner over C&D on good ground in October to record his first success in handicap company. Races off a 6lb higher mark here with useful apprentice (ridden him in all bar one of his starts) again in the saddle.
Has been kept busy on the AW this winter winning off a 5lb lower mark over this trip at Newcastle in February. Not beaten far when third at the same track last time out and interesting if translating that form to turf.
Winner at Pontefract on good ground over 6f in July but disappointing since including over this trip. Back down to his last winning mark but form suggests he's better over shorter.
Successful over this trip on good ground at Chester last May. Best effort since came when finishing third over 6f in the Bronze Cup at Ayr in September. Races off a mark 1lb lower than for that Chester success in this and drawn well here.
Finished third on both previous attempts over 7f including when beaten less than 2L at Ayr in July. Races off a 2lb lower mark here and interesting if tuned up for his return.
Just one win from 24 career outings but running well when last seen in action. Beaten 4L in a 19 runner event over C&D in November and likely to run his race again from a good draw and off a 2lb lower mark than for that effort.
Winner of his penultimate start on the AW at Newcastle in November. Well beaten at Chelmsford a week later however but interesting having won off higher marks in the past.
Beaten 2L in a Class 2 event on her penultimate outing at York last August. Disappointed when last of five at Musselburgh subsequently but interesting if repeating that York effort.
Registered a double in the autumn winning on soft ground over 6f at Hamilton and Catterick. Beaten over 4L when seventh at Newcastle on the AW subsequently and races off a career high mark here.
Winner of a maiden handicap off a 12lb lower mark at Southwell on second start for this yard in January. Put a poor effort next time out behind him when finishing runner-up at the same track last time out but a bit to do here.
Veteran campaigner with 18 victories to his name so far. Spent most of last season running over further than today's 7f trip and likely to be outpaced in this.
Running well without winning at Southwell this winter and finished third there on his penultimate outing. Beat just one rival home at that track earlier this week but interesting off the same mark that saw him finish runner-up at Catterick on his most recent turf outing.
Winner of his penultimate outing over an extended 1m at Windsor in October. Also successful over this trip in 2017 and looks to be the pick of the stables four runners based on jockey bookings.
Finished runner-up the last twice including behind today's rival Kalk Bay over 7f at Newcastle on the AW in November. Makes his seasonal debut here and worth a check in the market in this.
Run well on the AW twice in 2017 including when third at Kempton last time out. Drops back to 7f for the first time since moving to this yard and won off a 10lb higher mark in the past though draw could have been kinder.
Successful at the second time of asking over 1m4f in March last year. Sole placing since came when runner-up over this distance at Kempton in August and has his first start since being gelded here.
Winner of a 1m handicap here off this mark in June last year. Well beaten since however and beaten just four rivals home on final two starts of 2016. Jockey booking catches the eye in this.

Despite the result of the big one it appears that those drawn low are being favoured at this meeting and as such this opening contest can go the way of BRILLIANT VANGUARD. The selection has been running well on the AW recently and is now rated just 1lb higher than for his most recent turf success. Ballymore Castle finished fourth in a valuable contest here in November and can take second here off a 2lb lower mark while Timeless Art is also respected having won two of his last three starts in 2016. Of those drawn high King Of Naples makes most appeal having taken victory on his latest outing over C&D in September.
- Brilliant Vanguard
- Ballymore Castle
- Timeless Art
