Festival tips:
Kopek Des Bordes - 16.15 KPMG Champion Novice Hurdle (Grade 1)
A Willie Mullins benefit but a very exciting rematch between KOPEK DES BORDES and Salvator Mundi nonetheless. The latter should finish closer than he did in the Supreme judged on his commanding Aintree success but the former looks a little bit special so is fancied to remain unbeaten.
Ballyburn - 16:50 Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase (Grade 1)
BALLYBURN didn't appear to relish being ridden with restraint and ultimately found his chance compromised with a significant mistake at the seventh when fifth in the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham last month. However, Willie Mullins' charge undoubtedly remains with potential in this sphere, not least over 3m+ and he's selected to gain compensation back on home soil. Impaire et Passe, who arrives following success at Aintree, and Lecky Watson, who defeated the selection latest, head the dangers.
Punchestown Festival preview
The jumps season is winding down by the Punchestown Festival offers us one final glimpse at the best in the game. With 40 races spread over five days, it is an unmissable close to the Irish racing season taking place in the iconic fields of County Kildare.
The first day of the meeting is headlined by the 16:50 Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase (Grade 1), while races like the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup (Grade 1) will see the incredible Galopin Des Champs make another appearence.
Worth €180,000 to the winner, previous winners include Fastorslow, Neptune Collonges and Allaho. Run over 3m, it is one of the few races current chasing star Galopin Des Champs has failed to win in his illustrious career.
