Successful 3 times over 5f earlier this season and emerged with plenty of credit in defeat in Great St Wilfrid/Ayr Silver Cup. Not in same form when ninth of 12 in handicap back at Ripon (6f) 3 weeks ago but the return to the minimum trip may well help now.
Last 2 wins have come on all-weather, latest at Wolverhampton (6f) in July. Essentially remained in good form since, typically having plenty of use made of him when fourth at Goodwood (6f) 5 days ago. Underfoot conditions will hold no fears for all his mark looks about right.
Bounced back to land a gamble in the Ayr Bronze Cup (soft) in September and having not travelled with the same zest on firmer ground at Ripon next time, he quickly bounced back to his best when runner up back at Ayr (6f, heavy) 8 days ago. Should go well again with conditions in his favour.
Revitalised back from a short break when landing a career-best success at Sandown (5f) in late-July. However, not scaled same heights in 2 starts since, taken off his feet early before keeping on again late when twelfth at Doncaster latest. Eased 2 lb ahead of this.
Won 4 times last season and further progress this year, justifying good support when running out a game winner of 9-runner handicap at Hamilton (5f, soft) 18 days ago. Remains unexposed at 5f and there could yet be more to come at this trip. Interesting.
Pinatubo colt who is 2-3 in all-weather novice events but hasn't scaled same heights in 2 turf handicaps upon returning from a mid-season break, weakening out of things when ninth of 11 over 6f here 3 weeks ago. Drops back in trip now but others arrive with more pressing claims.
Scored twice on soft ground last October and back to winning ways with underfoot conditions to suit at Sandown (5f) in June. Rather lit up in first-time cheekpieces when fifth in a C&D handicap 6 weeks ago and his mark has eased a little dropped back down in class.
Forward-going sort who won 4 times during a productive 2025. Exploits have been mixed this season but responded well to fitting of blinkers when a rallying third at Southwell (5f) 3 weeks ago. Goes off an unchanged mark now if headgear has the desired effect once more.
C&D winner who built on her reappearance second when resuming winning ways at Chester in July. Exploits rather mixed since, though returned to form when runner-up back at Chester 4 weeks ago. This is a deeper affair though, and she will face competition for the lead.
Progressive sort who got off the mark at York in July and backed that up with 2 good placed efforts, latterly when keeping on for second at Newmarket (6f) 4 weeks back. Versatile as regards ground and respected up in grade.
Front runner who has had plenty of racing of late, placed in handicaps at Hamilton/Ayr in September. Had worst of the draw when never involved and eighth at York (5f) last week and whilst he's potentially well berthed here, he's another likely to face competition on the front end.
Beat some borderline useful sprinters when last successful at Thirsk (5f) in May. Now finds himself 3 lb below that mark and he quickly shaped as if back in form despite being poorly placed when seventh of 13 in handicap at Redcar (5f) 2 weeks ago. No forlorn hope by any means.
Revitalised for new yard, winning for third time since June at Sandown (5f) in August. Runner-up all 4 starts either side of that, latterly at Bath 17 days ago. Versatile as regards ground but this is a more demanding assignment.
Proved better than ever having been gelded when defeating a subsequent winner at Epsom (6f) in August and hasn't been seen to best effect either outing since, racing wide and weakening out of things when fifth over 6f here 3 weeks ago. Each-way claims back at 5f with conditions holding no fears.

Forecasts
City Captain (4/1), Eye Of Dubai (5/1), South Shore (6/1), Explosive Finnish (15/2), Secret Mistral (8/1), Canon's House (8/1), I'm Next (10/1), Marching Mac (16/1), Jungle Drums (16/1), Parisiac (20/1), Wheels Of Fire (20/1), Zain Primus (20/1), Proof (20/1), Al Hussar (25/1)
CITY CAPTAIN has improved again this year, justifying good support as he doubled his tally for the season in game fashion at Hamilton 18 days ago. A 3 lb rise for that success looks fair and with underfoot conditions in his favour, another bold showing looks on the cards. Eye of Dubai has been revitalised by blinkers of late and he's a big danger, with 3-y-o Explosive Finnish another to consider.
