Opened his account at the tenth attempt when taking 6-runner C&D maiden last month and faced a tough task on first turf start of the year when well held in a classified stakes at Ascot (8f, soft, 33/1) 34 days ago. This looks more realistic.

Ran best race for this yard when second over 1m at York in September. Possible excuses over a markedly longer trip at York (10.3f) and ran below form in heavy ground at Doncaster (7f) last time. Back on all-weather and probably too soon to write off.

Off the mark over 7f at Southwell in August. Still in good form when 8/1, respectable fifth of 17 in handicap at Ascot (7f, good) 34 days ago, racing closer to pace than ideal. Claims if seeing out the longer trip.

Latest success came at this track last autumn. Shaped as if better for the run on sole start for Daniel & Claire Kubler at Kempton in September. Back down in trip and could be more competitive on stable debut.

Opened account on return at Doncaster in July. Got back on the up with a career best when winning 10-runner handicap at Kempton (8f) 27 days ago by 1¼ lengths from Kitaro Kich, for all she was well positioned. That form has been franked and she's a leading contender upped in grade.

C&D winner notched third win of the year at Sandown (1m, good) in August but well held off 8 lb higher when eleventh of 12 in handicap at Nottingham (8.3f, good to soft) 35 days ago. May need further respite from the handicapper.

Latest win at Windsor in June but out of sorts since, twelfth of 13 in handicap at Southwell (8.1f, 40/1) 34 days ago. Best to look elsewhere.

Has found it tough this season but stopped the slide when 6½ lengths fourth of 7 to Kitaro Kich in handicap at Kempton (7f) 22 days ago. Needs more.

Off the mark on handicap debut at Southwell (7f) in April. Ran well having first crack at middle distances (in first-time visor) when creditable third of 11 in handicap at Redcar (10f, good to firm). Goes without headgear following a break and likely needs a career best back down in trip.

Kempton novice winner seemed to benefit from the step back up in trip when sixth of 11 in handicap (8/1) at Lingfield (8f, AW) 23 days ago, kept on final 1f but never nearer. Not ruled out if he can build on that.

Forecasts

Absolute Star (5/2), Shimmering Spin (7/2), Rajapour (7/2), Atmosphere (9/2), Happy Banner (11/2), Kitaro Kich (13/2), Threatening (15/2), Stenmark (17/2), War Chant (20/1), Port Erin (28/1), Pitney (80/1), Lyndon B (80/1)

Verdict

ABSOLUTE STAR got back on the up with a straightforward success at Kempton (form working out well) and she may be able to follow up in a higher grade. Atmosphere improved to land a third career success last time and could prove the main danger if the visor has the same effect, while Stenmark is another to note given his low-mileage profile.
