Age: 9| Weight: 9-7| J: Harry Russell| T: A Brittain| OR: 53| CD

16/1

3-time C&D winner. Three wins from 24 runs last year. 5/1, improved on recent efforts to win 10-runner handicap at Newcastle (6f) 29 days ago, suited by strong pace. Up 5 lb and he's not an obvious candidate to follow up.

Form: 523951

15/2

Course winner. Three wins from 14 runs last year. 16/1, nose second of 10 to Gidwa in handicap at this C&D 13 days ago, having run of race. Should be on the premises once more.

Form: 28780-2

(5)

Gidwa^p¹³

Age: 5| Weight: 9-3| J: Billy Loughnane| T: K P De Foy| OR: 49| CD

5/2

11/8, didn't need to improve to win 10-runner handicap at this C&D 13 days ago by nose from Bernard Spierpoint. 2 lb nudge fair enough but more will be needed if he's to go in again.

Form: 000-821

(2)

Higher Law^p,t¹³

Age: 4| Weight: 9-2| J: Lewis Edmunds| T: K Frost| OR: 48

11/2

Form: 546204

(7)

Yaahobby^p,t³

Age: 5| Weight: 9-2| J: Mark Winn⁽³⁾| T: A Brittain| OR: 48| CD

Forecasts

Gidwa (5/2), Higher Law (11/2), Yaahobby (13/2), Mine That Ship (15/2), Mikka (15/2), Bernard Spierpoint (15/2), Captain Wentworth (10/1), Tathmeen (16/1), Q Twenty Boy (25/1), Kitbag (25/1), Dynamite Katie (25/1), Kangaroo (33/1), Rebel Redemption (40/1)

HIGHER LAW (fourth) and Mikka (third) were both hot on the heels of Gidwa and Bernard Spierpoint after encountering traffic problems over C&D 13 days ago, and they can reverse placings with those rivals this time. Marginal preference is for Higher Law, who is 0-23 but he was a real eye-catcher in the aforementioned race and looks ready to strike. Tathmeen did the job well at Newcastle but he was seen to maximum effect that day and looks vulnerable up 5 lb.
