Won Redcar claimer last month (for Ed Dunlop) and continued resurgence for new yard, readily landing handicaps at Newbury/Nottingham in recent weeks. Assessor has reacted but still very much of interest now he's firmly back in the groove.

Improving 4-y-o who opened his account at Thirsk (6f) in June (strong form) and did well to reel one in who got first run at Ayr (6f) from 7 lb higher mark since. Promising apprentice takes off valuable 5 lb now and he's high on shortlist in hat-trick bid.

Winner of his first two starts in novice company (latterly over C&D) in April. Matched rather than built on those efforts in handicaps since, including up at 7f of late, not settling fully when fourth of 7 at Sandown in July. Well-run race back at 6f may suit ideally now.

Ran well from a poor draw at Pontefract in June and, well backed he resumed winning ways over C&D next time, making all and keeping on well. Found it tougher to dominate stronger company since though, and that may be the case again here.

Small field novice winner as a juvenile and pick of his efforts in handicaps this term have come over this C&D, edged out late on in first-time cheekpieces (retained here) 5 days ago. Each-way claims again on that evidence.

Capitalised on drop in grade to get off the mark for the season at Catterick (6f) in June. Hasn't truly had the rub of the green in handful of outings since and he appeals as being on a workable mark on balance.

Progressive when landing back-to-back 6f handicaps last summer (including over C&D) and, returned to quicker ground, he battled well to edge out a progressive 3-y-o at Newmarket (6f) in July. Likely he could do with ground drying out ahead of this.

Off the mark for the season in cosy fashion at Newbury (6f) in June and quickly dispelled a lesser effort at Chepstow when second at Leicester (7f) 15 days ago, headed post. Clearly in good heart but this is tougher again.

Solid start to the campaign when hitting frame in trio of 6f handicaps but mark has crept back up as a result and he was below his best when fourth of 6 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) 6 days ago.

Thriving mare who completed quick-fire hat-trick over 5f here 3 weeks ago and, unpenalized she matched that form when second over C&D 14 days ago. May need to pull out a bit more from revised mark.

Back-to-back winner on AW over the winter who has twice gone close on turf this summer, third at Chepstow (6f) on penultimate start in July. Hard to knock his recent fourth of 7 to Akkeringa in handicap at Newmarket (6f) 19 days ago but she may find a few too good again.

Solid start for new yard when fifth in 21-runner handicap at York (6f) in June but he's failed by a long way to build on that in 3 subsequent outings, last of 10 in handicap at Ayr (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago. Hard to fancy on that evidence.

Progressed with each start in novice company on AW, following up his Lingfield victory under a penalty at Wolverhampton (6f) in March. However, labouring before halfway and never figured on return/turf debut at Sandown (5f) 14 days ago. This should reveal more back at 6f.

Verdict

QUEST FOR FUN impressed when opening his account at Thirsk in June (strong form) and duly made light of a rise in the weights to follow up at Ayr 31 days ago. His rider's handy claim off-sets his latest weight rise and he looks sure to go well again. Juan Les Pins has been in resurgent form for the Mick Appleby yard and looks a big threat in pursuit of the 4-timer, with Music Society and Lethal Nymph also making each-way appeal.
