Opened account on debut in a Brighton maiden (6f) and similar form when fourth under a penalty at Carlisle novice (5.8f) later in June. Slow starts have been a feature though, doing well to finish a close second on nursery debut at Goodwood (7f) 7 days ago. Still, he's a big player.

Much-improved for fitting of a visor, landing Leicester seller (6f) early last month and thrived since, landing 2 of his 3 starts in nurseries, latterly at Chester (7f, soft) 4 days ago, kicking on long way out. Not underestimated under a penalty.

Dandy Man colt who finished third on debut at Chepstow and improved on that to finish runner-up in a Nottingham maiden (6f) in June. Proved to be a disappointment at Ffos Las (7.3f) since but certainly not one to write off now handicapping.

Lightly-raced maiden who got back on the up switched to nurseries when second to another improver at Catterick (7f) 4 weeks ago, ridden 2f out and keeping on. Hood goes on now and he looks up to playing a part.

Fast Company colt who confirmed debut promise when winning 4-runner maiden at Musselburgh (7.2f, good) in June, running green but decisively on top at the line. Improved a little more when third under a penalty at York (7f) since. Nursery debut.

Poet's Word filly. Definite promise first 3 starts in maiden/novice events at upto 6f and best excused latest effort at Southwell (6f) 6 days ago having raced very wide. Rates the type to do better now tackling 7f.

Twilight Son filly who looked a work-in-progress in novice/maidens but didn't need to improve to land 5-runner Nottingham nursery (6f) 3 weeks ago. Likely she will need to pull out more in this more competitive scenario, however.

Winner of 7f claimer at Redcar in June (final start for Mick Channon) but not got competitive either start in nurseries upon joining present stable.

Some promise in handful of novice events (all at 5f) but seemingly handed a stiff-opening mark and never figured on nursery debut at Ffos Las (5f) 24 days ago. Marked step up in trip needs to unlock some improvement.

Havana Grey colt. Runner-up in a seller on final start for Gemma Tutty but not matched that level in trio of starts for new stable and his mark looks on the stiff side.

Showed improved form (well backed) when opening his account at Lingfield (7f) 2 weeks ago and similar form without delivering to the same extent off the bridle when second at Kempton (1m) on Wednesday. This demands more.

A winner on debut at Brighton, X J RASCAL did well to finish as close as he did on the back of a very slow start when runner-up in a Goodwood nursery 7 days ago, edged out final 50 yds. He gets the nod to come out on top in the hope he can brush up at the stalls, with Machito, Sunday's Chester winner Kiss N Cuddle and Zabbie, at likely longer odds, others to consider.
