9/1, career best when winning 8-runner handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) 14 days ago, suited by emphasis on speed to lead 1f out and forging clear late. 5 lb rise fair so another bold showing expected.
Three wins from 6 runs last year. 9/4, career best when winning 5-runner handicap at this C&D (AW) 36 days ago, edging ahead entering last ½f and always holding on. Nudged up just 2 lb and remains of interest.
Course winner back in 2017 who ended last year out of form, latest when eighth of 11 in handicap at Kempton (11f). Off 5 months and others more persuasive.
Five wins from 19 Flat runs. 11/1, progressed again when second of 10 in handicap at Newmarket (10f, good) when last seen 5 months ago. Not seen on the all-weather for a while but not one to be ruling out.
Epsom novice winner (8.5f) last April who hit the frame on 3 of his next 4 starts. However finished last of 8 on his final 2021 start at Chester 6 months ago and has since left Richard Hannon (36,000 gns). Others appeal more.
Ended 2021 out of sorts but evidently revitalised after break when winning 8-runner handicap over C&D 5 weeks ago, overcoming pace bias. 5 lb rise may not stop him but this is competitive.
Career best when winning 6-runner handicap (22/1) at Newmarket (10f, good) in August but predictably well below that form when last on first start for his new yard a month later. Easy to look elsewhere on reappearance.
Latest win at Newcastle in February. 3/1, respectable 4½ lengths fourth of 8 to Lammas in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.5f) a fortnight ago, left poorly placed. Just 1 lb above his last winning mark but others appeal more on balance.
Three wins from 9 runs last year. Stepped up on reappearance when second of 5 in handicap at Kempton (8f, 11/10) 52 days ago. Back up in trip and merits serious consideration with Tom Marquand on board for the first time.
4-time C&D winner. Three wins from 12 runs last year, latest here in December. 5/1, ran creditably to place once more when third of 6 in handicap at this course (12f, AW) 28 days ago. His consistency is hard to knock but others are preferred for the win.
Hooded for 1st time, again showed little when sixth of 7 in novice hurdle (150/1) at Sandown (16f, good to soft) 56 days ago. Makes polytrack debut. Won on the Flat in Ireland last July but faces a stiff task in this company (gelded since then).
Course winner in January and notched a third success of the year at Newcastle in March. 5/4, good second of 7 in handicap at Newcastle (10.2f) 5 days ago, left with too much to do. Has to be taken seriously in his current vein of form.
Possibly needed the run after 6 months off when fifth of 8 in handicap at Kempton (11f, 6/1) 38 days ago. This run almost certain to reveal more.

Sarvan (3/1), Menai Bridge (3/1), Coase (9/2), Marion's Boy (7/1), Group One Power (8/1), Arenas Del Tiempo (12/1), Lammas (14/1), Bad Company (16/1), Athmad (20/1), Pure Bubbles (20/1), Fast Steps (22/1), Lawn Ranger (66/1), Atheeb (80/1), Optimistic Belief (100/1)
Cases can be made for several but the vote goes to COASE. Michael Wigham's charge is thriving on racing at present and, with much-touted apprentice Harry Davies taking off a valuable 7 lb, he can notch a fourth victory of the year. Arenas del Tiempo, Sarvan, and Lammas are just a handful of alternatives in an ultra-competitive contest.
