Veteran sprinter who rolled back the years to score at Newcastle last month, and went off too hard when below form at Sandown last time. Looks a little high in the weights, for all this downhill track will suit his style.
Looked set for a decent season when a creditable fourth in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on his return, but has rather stalled since, and only eighth of 10 to Nahaarr in a 6f handicap at Newbury last time.
On a lengthy losing run but retains plenty of ability, and shaped as if back to form when fifth of 18 to Jawwaal at Ascot last time. Every chance if he can build on that effort now.
Won Dash at Epsom last year and showed blazing speed to lead Battaash for a long way in King George Stakes over C&D 12 months ago. Below form more recently, but has slipped below his last winning mark, and return to this track is a plus.
Patchy record since winning at York last year, but came back to form when a good 2¼L third of 10 to Nahaarr at Newbury last time. Fairly treated if that effort signals a full-scale revival.
Below form so far this season, starting off at Meydan. Showed more dash on penultimate start, but failed to build on that at York last time when getting upset in the stalls. Best watched at present.
Now 3lb lower than when placed at Newmarket on his reappearance, but has been below form in two starts since. Always capable of bouncing back without warning, but a few are more appealing on balance.
Won at Haydock on return, and better form when second of 5 to Han Solo Berger at Newmarket last time. Below form over 6f in between, but should run his race kept to this trip, and has a decent strike rate for a handicap sprinter.
Front runner who has won six races over 5f, the latest coming off 5lb lower a Chelmsford in December. Went close on return at Haydock, and matched that form when ¾L second of 13 to Lahore at York off this mark last time. Clear claims with a repeat.
Still 6lb higher than when winning after a break at Kempton in early June. Well below form on last two starts on turf, though, and others have much stronger claims.
Useful sprint handicapper, completing a 5f turf hat-trick last July. Has held his form since, and will appreciate drop back to 5f having led for a long way at York (6f) last time.
Forecasts
Celsius (10/3), Recon Mission (10/3), Final Venture (13/2), Acclaim The Nation (7/1), Well Done Fox (10/1), Only Spoofing (14/1), Benny And The Jets (14/1), Count D'Orsay (14/1), Ornate (18/1), A Momentofmadness (22/1), Caspian Prince (28/1)
RECON MISSION was back in the groove last time, and is one of a few who will be well suited by this speed-favouring track, as will Acclaim The Nation, Ornate and Caspian Prince, but Tony Carroll's speedster has fewer miles on the clock than his older rivals, and he appeals as capable of better this year when everything falls into place.
- Recon Mission
- Acclaim The Nation
- Ornate
