Has some historical form to his name that would give him a chance off this mark, but was well below form in two starts last season, and now has questions to answer on his return today; others preferred.
2-2 for the yard, both wins coming on artificlal surfaces and this test should suit; won with a bit in hand at Wolverhampton on final start but that was over a mile, and this big step up in trip asks a new question; still one of great interest.
Winner over 10f here in January, 3lb higher today; placed in three efforts on the ice at St Moritz since then, but the big question is whether this step up in trip will suit; on balance, others are preferred.
Only had the five starts, winning one of them at Redcar last May and placed in three others; no reason to think this surface won't suit, and every chance she progresses again this year; one with definite chances.
King of the sand at his beloved Southwell, where he takes a lot of beating; effective here too though, and only beaten a length over C&D in February; handicapper probably has hold of him now, and may be playing for places.
Another change of yard for him (now onto fourth trainer), decent dual-purpose sort that pops up from time to time and should find conditions here to his liking; on a fair mark too, and if there's a bit of money around for him, so much the better.
Better known as a hurdler these days, and picked up a little contest in that sphere at Bangor last summer; has won off this mark at this trip in the past, so dangerous to write off completely, but hasn't been seen for some while, and may need a run.
Model of consistency last autumn and winter, winning two and went close in two others; should act fine on the surface, may well have more to offer, and yard have had a winner this week; looks a leading player.
Ran consistently well throughout last summer and into the autumn, twice a winner and placed on three other occasions; handled this surface fine on debut, is nicely drawn and should have more to offer this year.
Came good off a 2lb lower mark at Kempton last August but found life a bit harder after that, and rather went off the boil in the autumn; been gelded since then, and has had a break, so not impossible you'll see a different horse today.
On a good mark on the best of his form but the latter half of last year saw him go backwards a bit too quickly for comfort; add that to a win ratio of one win in 17 starts and it's enough to look elsewhere for the winner.
Long time since he raced on the Flat but has become a useful handicap hurdler in the meantime, especially when the ground is quick; probably not a lot in hand off this mark but yard's rarely lack for fitness and he's hard to discount.
Forecasts
Desert Caravan (6/5), Zuba (5/1), Sneaky Peek (11/2), Sashenka (11/1), Knowing (11/1), Mordred (14/1), Torochica (18/1), Landue (22/1), Blowing Dixie (28/1), Archimento (40/1), Mister Universum (66/1), Dream Machine (80/1)
Desert Caravan is unbeaten in two starts and has to be on the shortlist, despite this trip being an unknown for him, as he has plenty of improvement to come, but SNEAKY PEEK looks sure to progress too, and at this stage, might have less questions to answer. This surface should be up her street and she can score for a yard going great guns. Sashenka barely knows how to run a bad race and can take a medal of some colour home once more. Zuba is worth a look in the market for support.
