Clear form pick based on his victory over a mile on heavy ground at Newbury in October; will have learned plenty from that race and will take all the beating if continuing in same vein.

Form of his win at Newcastle in February was nothing too special but he was doing his best work in the closing stages and should appreciate this step up in trip for on fire trainer.

Did nothing wrong when winning on debut at Kempton in November over a mile but that was not the strongest of races and he has more on his plate here; fair chance nevertheless if appreciating this step up in distance.
Unraced Le Havre colt whose dam is a half-sister 1m6f Group 1 winner Duncan; related to other stoutly bred types and is a very interesting contender at this level getting weight from previous winners.

Dansili colt (300,000gns foal); fourth foal; brother to the 7f-1m winner Jamil; given gentle introduction at Nottingham in October; should be better for that and one to note.

Ninth foal; cost 50,000 euros as a yearling; related to plenty of middle distance winners; probably not up to winning this on debut but worth a check in the market.
Third foal whose siblings have not been especially good on the racecourse; has some useful pedigree however and is respected from powerful stable.

Comes from a stoutly-bred family being related to some hurdles winners; finished stone last on debut at Kempton recently; interesting he is turned out again so quickly and stable's runners always worth a check in the market.

Gelded son of Excelebration who cost 220,000gns as a yearling; is related to plenty of winners and it will be very interesting how he performs on his racecourse debut.

Cost 20,000gns as a yearling; 7th foal; half-brother to three winners including Tiger Webb; difficult to make a reasonable case for on racecourse debut. against better bred opponents.

10th foal; half-sister to five winners most notably smart AW performer Haatheq; will be interesting to see level of market support on racecourse bow.

Well bred daughter of Lope De Vega who cost 350,000gns as a yearling; another worth watching on racecourse debut getting plenty of weight from her more experienced rivals.

Forecasts

Chichester (7/2), Eastern Sheriff (7/2), Yes My Boy (9/2), Dancing Harry (9/2), Tao Te Ching (10/1), Grand Deed (12/1), Prince Alex (18/1), Chai Yo Power (20/1), Tajamhor (25/1), Ravens Ark (100/1), Delaquinn (125/1), Lanzealot (250/1)

Verdict

TAO TE CHING receives plenty of weight from all her main rivals in this contest and this nicely bred filly who cost 350,000gns as a yearlings may be able to make a winning start for connections. The daughter of Lope De Vega is well regarded by connections and this might be a fine piece of placing by her trainer. Another unraced entrant who deserves closer examination is Chai Yo Power. The colt is another expensive purchase and while he may need further in time, he may be ready first time up. Of those with experience, the best bet could be Dancing Harry who showed plenty of promise when winning in the mud at Newbury and should be suited to this step up in trip.
  1. Tao Te Ching
  2. Dancing Harry
  3. Chai Yo Power
