Must step up considerably from what was a below-par effort when he failed to beat a single rival over C&D on his return from a five month break. Three efforts at the back end of last season were also slightly concerning. Hard to fancy.

Gone backwards since breaking AW duck over this C&D just over a year ago. Eased in grade slightly, & is now back down to his last winning mark but slight leap of faith required given the form he is in currently.

Been a bit inconsistent of late, and is still 3lb above his last winning mark (never won off a mark as high as this before). Not completely disgraced despite finishing fifth at Wolverhampton (1m1f; standard) when last seen. Place claims at best.

Winless in three visits to this track. Showed a bit more when third in this grade at Chelmsford (1m; standard) to a well-fancied sort. However, he would still need to step up a fair bit on that bare form to feature in this.

Dual C&D winner who posted a more encouraging performance over 7f here when third to a well-handicapped rival. Dropped 2lb since then, and if able to reproduce that sort of form he should go close for his in-form stable.

Dual C&D winner who is solid to follow at this venue. Hit the crossbar on each of his last three starts, beaten just a neck most recently. Mark remains unchanged and it is hard to see him not making the frame.

Makes AW/seasonal/stable debut after failing to make any impact in handicaps for Brian Meehan. Mark dropped 19lb in seven starts in that sphere last year, and so it is difficult to make a compelling case for him. Market check advised.

Standout run in recent times came when he finished runner-up over C&D back in October. Unable to match that form since, and his record overall on the AW is concerning too (0-8) so he is opposed for the time being.

Tends to go well at this venue, and did it well when scoring over C&D when last seen. 5lb rise leaves him vulnerable for win purposes as he has never won off a mark as high as this in the past.

Drops back to a trip he has never ran over before, but he did return to form with a sound effort to finish second over 1m2f at this track recently. Is on an attractive mark if able to follow that up.

Sole career success came over this C&D. However, his two subsequent efforts in this grade since switching to handicaps have not been good enough, and so he would need to raise his game significantly to feature.

0-3 over this trip, but has won three timers at this track in the past. Raised slightly in grade now, and ran no sort of race when failing to get involved over 7f at this track last time out. Still 4lb above last winning mark too.

Forecasts

Paddyplex (9/2), Little Jo (9/2), Samphire Coast (5/1), Paparazzi (5/1), Champagne Rules (9/1), Global Art (10/1), Helovaplan (11/1), Tangled (14/1), Etikaal (16/1), Dawaaleeb (25/1), Aegeus (28/1), Athmad (28/1)

Verdict

There are quite a few in this race who can be ruled out with confidence given their form at present. One that statement cannot be applied to is PAPARAZZI who has been desperately unlucky to find just one too good on each of his last three starts (all over C&D). He runs off an unchanged mark and given his consistency, he looks the safest option to regain the winning thread. Also in the mix is Little Jo who showed more promise when third over 7f at this track when last seen. He represents the in-form Brian Ellison. Paddyplex is interesting after he threatened to take advantage of his reduced mark when second over 1m2f here last time out.
