Doesn't win very often (1-17), and is yet to win in five starts on the AW. Would need to step up considerably on either of his previous two starts in defeat. Apprentice's claim negates the burden of top-weight.

Showed a determined attitude to prevail by a nose over 1m4f here at the start of the month, but he hasn't been in that same form since. Well-beaten the last twice and is still on a career-high mark.

Returned to form when runner-up at Lingfield (1m2f; standard) nine days ago. Twice a winner over 1m at this track, but the stable have had 35 runners since their last winner. Risky proposition with that in mind.

Came home last of 12 behind Dyagilev at Chelmsford (1m2f; standard) 13 days ago. Has a modest strike rate of just 1-25, and the form of the stable is also off-putting so he is readily opposed.

Regained winning thread when a 2-length scorer at Chelmsford (1m2f; standard). That came after an encouraging second-placed effort over 1m2f at this track. 5lb higher mark now, but is evidently one to keep on the right side of when in good form.

Narrowly missed out on third on handicap debut at Wolverhampton (1m1f; standard) in December. Has actually been dropped a couple of lb since then, but if in similar form she should have place claims.

Sole win of his career came over 1m4f at this course in August. Consistent record, but has been of the track since being pulled-up at Worcester (2m; good) on hurdles debut. Market likely to be informative on his return from an absence.

Gaps between each of his five career starts suggest he's been difficult to train. Tailed off at Lingfield (7f; standard) on comeback from his most recent absence. 5lb lower mark unlikely to see him produce an improved performance. Best watched.

Eight-race maiden on the AW, and his latest effort over 1m2f at this track did little to instil any hope that would change in the near future. 10lb below last winning mark, but looks vulnerable to less exposed sorts.

Good strike rate on the AW (5-30), and although he hasn't won since May last year, he did return to form when runner-up over 1m4f here last time out. Place claims if reproducing that sort of form.

Failed to build upon her promising effort two starts ago when only sixth at Lingfield (1m4f; standard) nine days ago. Yet to win in 10 attempts on the AW, and looks vulnerable against rivals with more convincing form.

Bounced back from a low-key effort on his penultimate start to get off the mark at the 13th attempt over C&D two weeks ago. Did it comfortably enough, so a 4lb rise may not be enough to stop him.

Intriguing recruit who was 2-3 when trained in Germany (sent off favourite on each occasion). Hard to assess the form, but market check is strongly advised on his debut for this new stable.

Dyagilev (7/4), Kybosh (6/1), Rail Dancer (6/1), Songo (7/1), Newgirlintown (7/1), Muraaqeb (8/1), Pioneering (16/1), Music Major (16/1), Mystic Dragon (16/1), Dawn Treader (25/1), Lauberhorn Rocket (33/1), Regulator (50/1), Ramatuelle (66/1), Free Gift (100/1)

Verdict

The stable/handicap debutante Songo would be of interest on his first start on these shores if there is support for him in the market. He must bounce back from an absence, it would come as no surprise to see Lauberhorn Rocket go close after he looked to be going the right way in this sphere during the summer. Recent winners Dyagilev and Newgirlintown are both fully respected given they are still competitively handicapped. However, the selection is last time out C&D victor KYBOSH who may have been let off lightly by the handicapper after being raised a mere 4lb for breaking his duck when last seen. He still looked to have plenty in the tank so can follow up.
  1. Kybosh
  2. Newgirlintown
  3. Dyagilev
