Group 3 winner of a Derby Trial on turf last spring and strong form after failing to handle Epsom; had four of these toiling in his wake in C&D trial three weeks ago; his first AW start; and no reason to forecast a turnaround now.
C&D winner was second in Listed company here in December behind Dubai Warrior but couldn't lay a blow on Bangkok 21 days ago and hard to see how he reverses placings on same terms now.
French winner, behind a couple of these in December Listed contest over C&D and facing huge task having finished 11½L third to Bangkok in dress rehearsal for this three weeks ago.
Only beaten once in five starts on the AW and was a ready winner of C&D Listed event in December (by 3¾L from Court House); trainer/jockey won this a year ago with Wissahickon and looks main threat to Bangkok.
Won a 1m4f handicap here in December on the card when a few of these contest Listed contest over C&D; lots to find on ratings with the main principles.
Listed C&D winner in 2018 but well held in this race last year and mostly struggling since; behind four of these rivals in recent trial here (40-1 chance) and not likely to turn things around.
Experienced performer, modest third in this event last year but has routinely come up shy in pattern company; including when 14½L fourth behind Bangkok over C&D 21 days ago. Minor role forecast again.
Forecasts
Bangkok (8/13), Dubai Warrior (13/8), Court House (16/1), Dalgarno (33/1), Entangling (66/1), Pactolus (100/1), Master The World (100/1)
On form this should go to either BANGKOK or Dubai Warrior, with Andrew Balding's charge favoured having won a C&D trial recently pretty much as he pleased with a host of these rivals toiling behind him. John Gosden and Frankie Dettori combined to land this race a year ago and their runner has improved with every start on the AW so far; another step forward will leave him closely matched with the selection. Court House is best placed to pick up any scraps from the top table.
- Bangkok
- Dubai Warrior
- Court House
