Return of the visor has seen him consolidate his love of the Fibresand with two wide-margin wins this year. Up a total 14lb and now off a career-high mark and, despite a C&D win previously, he has more on his plate now.
Had a good 2019 with four wins (5f-6f) and several placed efforts in defeat. Returns from a four-month break off a career-high mark but has form here and is an interesting runner if resuming her improvement.
Won off 1lb higher at Chelmsford (5f) in March but apart from a run at Sandown in the summer, hasn't been in the same form since. Returns from an 111-day break and although he's capable at this level, maybe best watched until some positive signs.
Capable sprinter over the years, winning off 102 in 2016 but has only managed one win since (C&D) in February off 8lb higher. His mark continued to slide until bouncing back at Lingfield (5f) last time, beaten ½L. Has a chance if building on that.
Into the veteran stage now but has been running creditably in recent months with several placed efforts. Only beaten 1¾L at Newcastle (5f) last time and should give his running again but vulnerable to younger legs and isn't drawn well.
Another who has been holding his form well recently. Finished just ahead of Foxy Forever when third at Newcastle (5f) on Thursday and is again racing off his last winning mark. Has won over C&D and should make his presence felt.
Hasn't won over this trip since July 2017 and has been out form since winning here (6f) in March. Down 10lb in the handicap since but was well beaten here (7f) after a short-break last time and this trip might be on the short side nowadays.
Won at Chelmsford (5f) in May over 1lb higher but has been disappointing in his four runs since. Only beat one rival at Chelmsford (6f) last time out and others are in better form.
Only one win in 14 starts which came at Southwell as a juvenile. Had a fair spell in August with a couple of decent efforts but returned from a break in midfield at Southwell (5f) on Monday and needs a career best to win.
14-time winner who pops up in turn, including when defeating Foxy Forever over C&D last month. Back up 4lb and wouldn't be the most trustworthy to follow-up for all he is still fairly handicapped.
Hasn't had much luck at the start in his last three runs but has ran well in defeat on each occasion, doing well to finish second at Newcastle (5f) 10 days ago. Should be bang there once again, particularly if getting away smoothly.
Forecasts
Canford Bay (5/2), Tathmeen (10/3), Boom The Groom (9/2), Reflektor (13/2), Foxy Forever (12/1), Dynamo Walt (14/1), Zapper Cass (14/1), Scale Force (18/1), Pink Flamingo (25/1), You're Cool (28/1), King Robert (66/1)
A tight sprint handicap where BOOM THE GROOM get the narrow verdict after bouncing back to form at Lingfield last time. He is well handicapped and has a good draw. Trainer Antony Brittain has a strong hand with two runners and preference is for Canford Bay who has been running well in defeat in recent weeks whilst Pink Flamingo improved throughout 2019 and can make the frame if resuming in the same form.
- Boom The Groom
- Canford Bay
- Pink Flamingo
