Posted one of his better efforts when second over C&D last month and has a fair chance of going close again if dishing out a repeat dose. The handicapper has given him a chance in leaving him on the same mark. Worth bearing in mind if supported.
Not raced since seen over hurdles last December and obvious race fitness question to answer; has won over this distance on the Flat but his two previous runs on Polytrack were a poor efforts. Others looks stronger candidates.
Ran on well to snatch second at Kempton last month; an effort which creates hope this slightly longer trip will suit. Another on a handy mark and certainly merits a betting check at least.
Lightly raced but hasn't been in action for a well over a year. Stalls tested after refusing to enter the gates at Kempton for an intended engagement in October; but improvement is still required even if she consents to take part this time.
Was short of room when winding up with a challenge here last time (finished behind Mistress Nellie) but might have got closer with more luck in running. Stays the trip well but is 0-5 on the AW and needs a step forward.
Debuts in a handicap on a workable mark but needs to improve on the bare form of three runs in novice company. A betting move would be interesting but likely the gelding will do better when more experienced.
Still a maiden after 14 attempts and limitations are becoming plain to see. Finished a good way behind Toybox at Kempton last time and more needed to reverse the form.
Won in a convincing manner over 1m2f at Chelmsford back in May and very probable that he needed last month's spin at Wolverhampton to blow away the cobwebs. More needed now he steps up this trip for the first time, though.
A winner at Chelmsford (1m2f) back in March but posted mixed form afterwards; still 3lb above that winning mark and has a stamina query to answer.
Won in this grade at Kempton back in October and not disgraced when fourth here last time (Mistress Nellie was second, King Athelstan seventh, Passing Clouds eighth). Good chance of going close again from the same mark. Another to bear in mind.
Dropped a long way in the ratings over the last year and came the closest he's been to adding to his solitary previous career win when staying on to finish second at Newcastle earlier this month. Nudged up 1lb for that effort but not much to find.
0-9 on the AW but has a solid record of making the frame and is long overdue a change of fortune. Had a few of these in behind last time over C&D and another bold bid expected from just 1lb higher.
A low-grade handicapper who has already had numerous chances at riding himself of his maiden status. Has form to reverse with Mistress Nellie, while it's also a concern that his better efforts have taken place at Kempton rather than here.
Less exposed than most and comes into this on the back of her best effort to date; slightly concerning that the switch back to Polytrack might blunt her finishing burst this time but otherwise she's improved of late. Another for the shortlist.
Improved for the step up to this trip at Kempton when last seen but the gelding hasn't raced for over a year and his lack of previous consistency tempers the confidence further. Others appear to hold stronger claims.
Didn't get a clear run when fifth behind Toybox at Kempton last month (Bolt N Brown was eighth) and ran better than the finishing position suggests. However, the filly lacks consistency and needs to prove that wasn't just a one-off performance.
Forecasts
Banta Bay (5/1), Mistress Nellie (11/2), Mobham (6/1), Accessor (6/1), King Athelstan (8/1), Bolt N Brown (8/1), Toybox (10/1), Archdeacon (12/1), Y Fyn Duw A Fydd (14/1), Border Warrior (18/1), Passing Clouds (20/1), Mr Fox (25/1), Billy Star (25/1), Miss Pollyanna (25/1), Gladden (25/1), Bright Saffron (50/1)
MISTRESS NELLIE had a few of this lot in behind her when she again finished in the money last time out and, assuming she can maintain her effort to the line, this could finally be the day when the filly gets off the mark. Mobham is respected despite being set to carry top weight, while Gladden and Banta Bay are others that can make their presence know at this level. Toybox is also worth consideration.
- Mistress Nellie
- Mobham
- Gladden
