Registered his eighth career success with victory over 6f on soft ground at Catterick on his penultimate outing. Return to this trip a positive having weakened when 6L sixth over 7f at Chelmsford last time out.

Disappointing in two starts since finishing runner-up over 5f at Kempton just over a month ago. Market support would be notable off a mark 3lb lower than when winning at Bath (5f, firm) in May.

Ten time winner made a pleasing debut for this stable when beaten a head over this trip at Chelmsford at the start of this month. Strong claims despite a 2lb rise in the weights.

C&D winner has finished third on all three starts since winning by a neck over an extended 7f at Beverley (good-to-firm) in July. Beaten 1¼L over 7f at Epsom (good) in September on his most recent start and is of interest returning from a break.

Step up in trip appeared to suit when finishing a neck second in a handicap over this trip at Chelmsford last time out. Interesting runner off a 2lb higher mark.

Successful twice this autumn most recently by ¾L in a race over this trip at Southwell earlier this week. Carries a 5lb penalty for that victory and is an interesting runner in this contest.

Fair 5½L fifth in a 6f handicap at Goodwood (good) in August when last in action. Market support would be notable with blinkers tried for the first time off a mark 3lb lower than for his latest success.

Good ½L second in a 5f handicap at Navan (yielding-to-soft) on his penultimate outing. Decent 2L seventh over the same trip at Dundalk subsequently and is worth a check in the market on this occasion. Also engaged 18:45 Dundalk Friday.

Well held 6½L sixth of seven in a 7f handicap at Kempton in July. Making just his third start of the year and is probably best watched at present.

Broke her maiden when victorious by 1¼L in a 6f handicap at Chelmsford in September. Decent fifth over the minimum distance at Wolverhampton subsequently and visor tried for the first time following a 7L sixth at Chelmsford (6f) recently.

Forecasts

Fiery Breath (11/4), Luis Vaz De Torres (9/2), Captain Dion (6/1), Aloysius Lilius (7/1), Sandridge Lad (7/1), Grey Galleon (9/1), Something Lucky (14/1), Amor Kethley (16/1), Briyouni (16/1), Alicia Darcy (25/1), Shining (40/1)

Verdict

Top weight CAPTAIN DION looks likely to appreciate the return to this trip having run well for a long way over a furlong further on his most recent start. The selection has a good draw here and he can get the better of Luis Vaz De Torres who has been running well in defeat this autumn. Sandridge Lad wasn't beaten far when runner-up on his latest start and he can take third on this occasion.
  1. Captain Dion
  2. Luis Vaz De Torres
  3. Sandridge Lad
