Hinted at a modicum of ability on her belated debut on the AW at Chelmsford, started 50-1 over 1m. Now steps up significantly in trip but hard to see how she gets involved here.

Back in much calmer waters having been tried in Listed company at Yarmouth last time (1m2f) on just her second start (found everything coming too soon). Did prove a threat to an odds-on chance on debut at Bath over 1m; not safe to neglect.

Newcomer (725,000 guineas yearling) by Sea The Stars; sister to 2yo 1m winner Zvalinska and half-sister to 3 winners. Dam, 1m-1m2f winner, half-sister to top-class winner up to 1½m Peintre Celebre; plenty to recommend her on pedigree.
Frankel filly, newcomer out of an unraced dam who was a half-sister to very smart 6f-7f winner (stayed 9f) Regal Parade. May well be better for the run but well worth taking a check on the market prior to her belated debut.

One of the more experienced in the field who has taken her form up a notch or two in handicaps the last twice over similar trips on turf. Yet to be tried on the AW and she's now equipped with a visor for the first-time; should make her mark.

Failed to come on from her debut where she looked one for the longer term when switched to the AW for the first time over 1m (slowly way). Pedigree screams stamina so there may be some progress over a trip such as this.

Newcomer; first foal, dam 6f winner half-sister to useful winner up to 9f Press Baron. Yard hardly renowned for this type especially on debut, hard to see her making any sort of impact.

Placed three times in minor events over at up to just shy of 1m2f on the AW before making her handicap debut again on the AW; ran to a modest level. May lack the potential for much better returned to this level over a new trip but can't be ignored.

Well beaten on her only start so far at Ripon over 1m4f running to just a poor level and beaten around 18L. Would need to take a large leap forward to take a hand in this.

Went backwards after a promising 2yo debut and failed to find her debut form when returning from over a year off last time in first-time cheekpieces. Hopes now pinned on a switch to AW upped in trip; looked rather awkward last time though.

Showed more than first-time up when finishing midfield at Wetherby in April over 1m2f despite starting at big prices both times. Needs this run for a handicap mark and will be seen to better in that effect in that sphere in the future.

Forecasts

Bye Bye Lady (9/4), Maximum Effect (5/2), Dubious Affair (11/4), Brown Honey (7/1), Casual Reply (16/1), Summer Skies (33/1), High Gloss (50/1), Mystic Dragon (66/1), Anything For You (66/1), War Empress (100/1), Justlookatmenow (100/1)

Verdict

There are one or two newcomers that are worthy of noting here with Bye Bye Lady and Casual Reply both having pedigrees to recommend them despite as yet having the experience to go with those plus points. Brown Honey finds herself back in more suitable climes after being given a stiff task last time and could well build on what was a promising debut effort. Maximum Effect will have her supporters but she doesn’t appear to be really progressing and preference is for another runner who is returning to this sphere from handicaps DUBIOUS AFFAIR. Her two recent handicap starts suggest she can win at this level with Ryan Moore partnering her for the first time.
  1. Dubious Affair
  2. Brown Honey
  3. Bye Bye Lady
