Not firing on all cylinders of late, but could appreciate the return to a sound racing surface; just 2lb higher than when making all to score (from a handy stands rail berth) at Hamilton (6f, good to firm) in June; stablemate of Laoise.
3lb higher than when making all to score by 1½L in a Class 5 maiden handicap at Ripon (6f, good) in July; has came up short in slightly stronger Class 5 contests since; must find additional improvement.
From the family of Jack Dexter and a brother to the 5f AW winner Lord Of The Glen; should fare better now introduced to handicapping and definitely one to keep a close eye upon moving forward.
Beaten a neck by Boudica Bay (The Grey Zebedee third) over C&D earlier this month; much less productive at Leicester since but couldn't be discounted.
On a steady upward curve and can potentially reverse earlier C&D form with Kaafy; carries a 6lb penalty for last week's straightforward Catterick (5f, soft) success; firmly in the mix.
13-race maiden; although hailing from a stable in-form and placed (323) on all three previous C&D starts, she has work to do with The Grey Zebedee on the basis of last week's Catterick evidence.
Comfortable Class 6 C&D winner (good to firm) in May; has had plenty of chances since and rates as far more exposed than some of her rivals.
Runner-up in a 7f Leicester seller for Richard Hannon last September; well beaten on both subsequent starts for this trainer (also saddles Jordan Electrics); first competitive action for 308-days; very unlikely winner.
Six-race maiden; met trouble in running on her penultimate start (5f, Catterick); basement mark and still very early days in handicap company; one to consider should sustained market support arrive.
Forecasts
Kaafy (4/1), Northern Society (5/1), The Grey Zebedee (5/1), Amazing Alba (11/2), Gleniffer (6/1), Shall We Begin (9/1), Jordan Electrics (11/1), Montalvan (11/1), Laoise (40/1)
THE GREY ZEBEDEE is on a steady upward curve and should prove capable of defying a 6lb penalty for last week's rather straightforward Catterick success. He clearly has the measure of Amazing Alba and evidently has improved markedly since finishing a close third behind Kaafy (second) over C&D earlier this month. Of the remainder, a sustained market move for the lightly-raced maiden Shall We Begin should probably be heeded.
