Must give weight-away all round and despite being just 1lb above her last winning mark, she is probably one to oppose today after a trio of quiet efforts of late.

Not disgraced despite finishing fifth in what was a good race for the grade at Nottingham (1m; soft) recently. Tends to run in better races than this, and the form of her third at Salisbury in June reads particularly well.

Finally put it all together when successful from the front at Windsor (1m; good to firm) when last seen. Form of that contest hasn't really been tested as of yet, but she should remain competitive off just 4lb higher.

Broke maiden duck at the fifth time of asking when scoring by a head at Lingfield (7f; soft) last month. Form of that contest has since been downgraded by everything in the race though.

Respectable efforts in defeat the last thrice over trips ranging from 7f-1m2f. Is only 5lb above last winning mark, and more than likely that she will be thereabouts on the evidence of recent showings.

Still lightly raced, and despite posting her first below-par effort when sixth at Chelmsford (1m; standard) last time, she is afforded another chance for top connections. Wears first time cheekpieces which may eke out some more improvement.

Seems to have a preference for the AW, especially at Soutwhell over 1m. Didn't run badly when she finished fourth over C&D last month, but two subsequent efforts have not been good enough. Has it to prove.

First two runs in France for new stable have yielded nothing. In poor form for former yard in Ireland before she switched, and others have far more convincing claims. Look elsewhere for more serious alternatives.

Couldn't follow up narrow C&D victory here when a disappointing seventh at Lingfield (7f; good to firm) last time. Steps back up to 1m now, but has questions to answer and is vulnerable to improvers.

Never looked dangerous on either of her first two starts in handicaps, which have both came over 1m2f. Form of the maiden she finished fourth in at Newmarket (1m; good) reads very well. Drop back in trip offers hope but still has plenty to prove.

Showed a fair level of ability in maidens, and made a handicap debut which suggested she could win races moving forward when fourth behind the progressive Teodora De Vega at Leicester (1m2f; heavy). Drop back in trip should suit.

Forecasts

Madeleine Bond (9/2), Amorously (5/1), Kyllachys Tale (5/1), Regal Banner (13/2), I'lletyougonow (7/1), Red Romance (8/1), Elena (10/1), Daryana (11/1), Chiavari (12/1), Mrs Benson (16/1), Nightingale Valley (20/1), Bond Angel (20/1)

Verdict

They have something to find on form with the leading contenders, but both Elena & Mrs Benson are worth a second look after showing improved form on their latest starts. Madeleine Bond has some eye-catching form to her name, including when third at Salisbury behind the now 98-rated Bella Vita. After she broke her maiden duck in May, Amorously has posted a string of highly credible efforts in defeat, but preference is for REGAL BANNER. She is still 0-6 but can be forgiven her latest effort. She has some good form to her name & the application of first time cheekpieces may be enough to see her notch a first career success for her in-form trainer/jockey combo.
  1. Regal Banner
  2. Amorously
  3. Madeleine Bond
