promising second on debut at Thirsk in April, and improved markedly when winning a 1¼m novice at Windsor last month. Penalised for that, but still scratching the surface with his potential, and he's likely to be a major player once more.

Improved on debut effort when landing a 1m novice at Sandown in September, and while the form of that contest has not worked out too well, he represents a yard in form, and isn't taken lightly.

Farhh half-brother to useful 1m winner Billingsgate. Chased home subsequent winner Logician in a 1¼m novice at Newmarket late last month, and can take a major hand in the finish if building at all on that promising debut.

Closely related to owner's smart stayer Mekong out of a Listed-placed stayer. Likely to do better with the benefit of experience, but this well-bred newcomer still merits a market check.

Runner-up behind the promising Logician over C&D in May, and every chance on that display, but disappointed next time, and has been gelded since. That should help concentrate his energy in the right direction, and he's one to bear in mind.

by Frankel out of Oaks/Irish Oaks winner Ramruma, so disappointing that he fetched just €100,000 as a yearling, and he has been beaten 10L and more on both starts to date. Handicaps beckon after this, it would seem.

Better effort to date when third of 8 to Gifts of Gold in a 1¼m maiden at Salisbury last time, albeit beaten 11L by the winner. Probably needs a stiffer test in order to progress further.
First foal, by Cape Cross, of a 1m-1m2½f winner. Yard going fine, but jockey is struggling for winners of late. and fact he's making his debut so late is a definite concern.

From a decent middle-distance family, and showed some ability when sixth of 11 to Star Catcher over C&D in April. Entitled to do better, but a 3-month break suggests she's had an issue or two since that debut effort.

Boasts a very ordinary pedigree, and didn't shape with particular promise on debut at Salisbury last month. Looks one for further down the line if she's to come good.

Misread
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: L P Keniry| T: G Deacon
200/1
Nayef half-sister to 7f-1¼m winner Newnton Lodge and 1m winner Full Footage, from the family of Zafonic. Makes a belated debut for a yard struggling for winners, and others more appealing.

Forecasts

Hamish (4/7), High Commissioner (4/1), Kosciuszko (5/1), Away He Goes (8/1), Passion And Glory (11/1), Imperium (33/1), Cochise (33/1), Ned Pepper (50/1), Mini Milk (100/1), Brass (150/1), Misread (200/1)

Verdict

Several with chances in a novice with some depth, and the vote goes to the well-bred HAMISH, whose family tends to improve markedly with age and experience, so he's liable to prove better than the bare bones of his Windsor success. Away He Goes and High Commissioner have both been second to the exciting Logician this season, with the former open to the greater improvement on the back of a belated debut at Newmarket last month. Kosciuszko makes his reappearance after a lengthy break, but isn't taken lightly.
