Progressive last year, winning 2-3 starts, and also scored in Meydan early in 2019. Perhaps outstayed over 1m4½f on AW bow at Newcastle in April, sports cheekpieces now and should go well down in distance.

Prolific strike-rate on AW (9-23) with most recent success at Lingfield (1m4f; 5-2f) in March. Struggled in both September visits to this track, may be vulnerable here over this trip from current rating back from hurdling.

Hasn't won since a Windsor success in May last year but has run some nice races in defeat since. 2017 C&D winner can be given claims on recent turf efforts off higher marks, worth betting check.

Patchy record so far in 2019, comes here after placed efforts on turf at Redcar and Goodwood over this trip but runs from 3lb higher mark now. Stable in good form.

Won his first three starst for this trainer last year over 1m-1m2f. Solid in 3-4 starts this year, including ½L second behind Star Of Bengal over C&D last month. 3lb higher this evening.

Raced only four times in France, winning twice. Agonisingly denied a 50-1 shock on British bow at Newbury (1m, good to soft) in April, form that has worked out well. Up in distance and well worth a glance despite 4lb rise.

Was returning from 222-absence when respectable fourth over C&D last month (Exec Chef second); eased 1lb and entitled to be sharper for that run.

Course winner in 2017, ended last year with Newbury handicap win (1m2f, good to soft) and that form would give him a claim here. Beaten favourite on return at Pontefract, while subsequent Chester effort best forgotten.

Three winter wins at Wolverhampton came at this sort of trip, albeit in weaker contests. Well held over C&D in Class 4 race in April. Would do well to sneak a place.

Winner over a mile here on debut for Andrew Balding in April, backed that up with Windsor success (1m2f, good; 1-1f) before being held at Chester last time. Not ruled out, though likely calling for career-best to score.

Exec Chef (2/1), Desert Fire (5/2), Caradoc (5/1), Indeed (6/1), Simoon (8/1), Highbrow (9/1), Ventura Knight (14/1), Dukhan (16/1), Plutonian (22/1), Michele Strogoff (33/1), Petite Jack (40/1)

Verdict

French import INDEED made a pleasing start for trainer Dominic Ffrench-Davis in the Spring Cup at Newbury, just being foiled as a 50-1 chance late on. The form of that race looks decent and he should have more to offer now. Desert Fire drops in trip and could be capable of further progress while Exec Chef went well here last time and joins the re-opposing Highbrow on the shortlist.
