Had started to look frustrating with his regular placed efforts but after a luckless run at Kempton, he won with a bit in hand at Chester. Looks to have more to offer on this type of surface and should go close.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Cameron Noble(5)| T: M L W Bell| OR:  85| D

Remains 4lb higher than his Newmarket success and now takes on his elders. Probably just in the grip of the handicapper at present.

Won three times last year and paid the price with the handicapper. Held on recent stable debut and although not unsuited by drop in trip, others remain on better marks.

Won with authority when gaining first handicap success at Thirsk and not far behind Redgrave when starting slowly at Kempton subsequently. Not suited by 6f last time but has started to look a hard ride. Hood needs to have desired effect.

Former Charlie Hills inmate who has been in good form in his latest three runs for current stable. Unlucky when last season on turf at Chester and should run his race again.

Continues to pound out consistent performances albeit on much different types of tracks to this. Can remain competitive off current mark but query at this course

Couple of solid enough runs on the AW on her last two starts, however returns to the turf with quite a high mark to contend with.

Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: George Downing| T: A W Carroll| OR:  77| BF

Very good horse on the AW who has taken advantage of a lower turf mark with a fine run of form this summer until a very poor run at Brighton. Probably best watched off the back of that.

Raised 6lb for his win at Ayr and held comfortably off it over the same C&D since. Down 2lb but all wins have come at 6f and looks vulnerable.

Golden Slamb136
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-12| J: Andrea Atzeni| T: R Varian| OR:  76| D

Remains lightly-raced but has just looked held by the handicapper in two starts since Yarmouth win. First-time blinkers need to spark further progress.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-12| J: Levi Williams(7)| T: S Dow| OR:  78| D

Has not got his head in front since winning on debut and largely out of form throughout his turf campaign this year. Returns from a break and a gelding operation and others preferred.

Keeper's Choice29
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-11| J: Fran Berry| T: D J Coakley| OR:  75| C| D

Gained second success of the campaign when battling to success at Sandown before below that level but not disgraced in a tougher race at Newmarket. Likely more to come still in this grade.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-10| J: Jim Crowley| T: C Hills| OR:  76| D

Dark Angel colt who cost 500,000gns and much better when running on well to breakthrough on start six at Leicester. Progress needed again back in handicaps but one of the more likely types.

Molls Memory38
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: L P Keniry| T: E Walker| OR:  75| BF

Has run to a consistent level in four runs since her debut and raced most recently as though a return to this trip would suit. More required but is still open to improvement.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: Tom Marquand| T: B J Meehan| OR:  75

Disappointed in next four starts following promising debut, however finally returned to that level at Ascot latest. Could be more to come now but concern he hung late on when under pressure.

Tough ask in a valuable claiming handicap latest but was still disappointing over a C&D he was suited by. Remains hard to predict.

Took a step forward when gaining a first success with the addition of first-time blinkers. They perhaps didn't have the same effect last time and a bit to prove now back on turf.

Age: 7|  Weight: 8-7| J: Liam Jones| T: J L Flint| OR:  71| D

Dropped to an attractive mark but not quite been able to exploit the opportunities presented to him. Below par latest at Beverley and others preferred.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-6| J: David Probert| T: A M Balding| OR:  72

Lightly-raced but on quite a high mark since Thirsk breakthrough win. Stable out of form and he needs to put a very tame effort behind him.

Forecasts

Ptarmigan Ridge (9/2), Bedouin's Story (5/1), Highlight Reel (17/2), Faraasah (9/1), Golden Slam (10/1), Face Like Thunder (10/1), Keeper's Choice (11/1), Redgrave (12/1), Molls Memory (14/1), Harbour Approach (16/1), Eraad (16/1), Mamillius (16/1), Frank Bridge (33/1), Here's Two (33/1), Inexes (40/1), Poetic Force (50/1), Outer Space (50/1), Albishr (50/1), Marshal Dan (66/1), Another Boy (66/1)

Verdict

PTARMIGAN RIDGE took the needed step forward to convert his close efforts into a win at Chester and is taken to progress again. Keeper's Choice found the higher grade a bit too hot last time but rates a clear danger back in this company. Eraad is interesting back in handicaps if he's able to build on his confidence building success. Molls Memory just lacks a change of gears at the business end but shouldn't be far away once again.
  1. Ptarmigan Ridge
  2. Keeper's Choice
  3. Eraad
