Makes his debut over fences having rather lost his way since winning a Lingfield novice hurdle when well backed. Well beaten in all his three hurdles handicaps so far but the handicapper has shown him some mercy for this first try over fences.
An improved model over fences having now won three times in handicaps (made all each time) at around this trip. Failed to live up to his best form on his last two starts (change of tactics; jumped poorly last time); mark starting to look too tough.
Yet to score in bumpers or over hurdles (0/10 overall) and now switched to fences having been placed twice in handicaps earlier in the year off a similar mark. Respected given his connections and chasing may show him in a better light.
Has left Jonjo O'Neill (first run for this yard) and looked all at sea over fences when tried over them earlier in the year (left at start on debut). Returned to hurdles of late but looked far from in love with the game; caution advised.
Returns from a break to make his chasing debut having shown some reasonable form over hurdles (won a Plumpton novice over 2m4f). Mark still looks a little harsh based on his hurdles form and may need this run.
Slipped below the mark that he won a Plumpton handicap hurdle off just over a year ago but has failed to impress in that sphere or on the Flat since. Failed to get involved over hurdles last time (ran free) and looks and awkward sort; chase debut.
Had to be eased in grade to get off the mark over hurdles at Southwell (2m, good) off a mark of 102. Looked in need of the run last time on his return off an 8lb higher mark and now tries chasing for the first time; worthy of respect.
Trainer 2/7 with his chase runners this season in GB and this Irish raider comes here to make his chase debut off the back of his initial hurdles win. Doesn't look that well treated though and faces a stiff task off this mark.
Given three quick novice hurdle runs at the end of last year to gain a mark but disappointed on his sole handicap outing over hurdles. Now quickly sent chasing after a break and hard to know what to expect given that absence/lack of experience.
Record since he landed a handicap hurdle at Sandown last winter is a little inconsistent. Now had two attempts at chasing but failed to match his debut effort last time although this is slightly easier; remains 2lb above last winning mark.
Forecasts
Jabulani (9/4), Battle Of Ideas (7/2), A Place Apart (6/1), Tikkinthebox (9/1), Way Out West (11/1), Balibour (12/1), Utility (12/1), East Indies (14/1), Acaro (16/1), Cap Du Nord (20/1)
Plenty that are making their chase debuts here and to a certain extent looking to get their careers back on track. JABULANI would be one of those having rather lost his way over hurdles after his win but the break and change of discipline may well spark him back to life. Irish raider A Place Apart may well attract some interest in the market but he doesn’t look that well handicapped on his hurdles form. Tikkinthebox has plenty of chasing experience and would be dangerous if gifted an easy lead although he features off a stiff enough mark now. Cap Du Nord, Balibour and Way Out West are others to consider in a complex heat to unravel.
- Jabulani
- Balibour
- Tikkinthebox
