Form a bit patchy this summer but decent enough when on song, and she put in a better effort at Newmarket last time. C&D winner in the past and won't mind a drop of rain either, so has enough plus points to be of interest.
Winner on soft ground last September, so any rain isn't a problem, but best efforts so far have come at the minimum trip and she's yet to win at 6f. Needs to bounce back from a moderate effort last time too, and others preferred.
May have a quirk or two (went to post early last time) but has only had the four starts and open to plenty of improvement. Close second at Ffos Las last time but this is tougher, so needs another step forward, but that's far from impossible.
Only had the four starts and has improved a little on each of them, coming good at Doncaster last time (just held on) and should improve again on that. Track should suit but unproven if ground did get softer.
Pops up from time to time when she's allowed her own way in front, and is a three-time winner at the track. Soft ground suits too, so any rain a plus, and although she ran moderately at Doncaster last time, could bounce back here.
Bounced back from a few middling efforts with a better one at Yarmouth last time out, caught very late after trying to make all in a small field. Might not appreciate too much rain and too inconsistent for comfort, so others preferred.
Twice a beaten favourite recently and connections seem at a bit of a loss as to her best trip at present (tried over a mile last time). Just the one win in 17 and despite falling handicap mark, others are more persuasive.
Left John Quinn after a moderate effort at Pontefract in May (made favourite) and not seen since, first start for new yard here but does have a C&D maiden win (with some cut) to her name, so chances if change of scenery does her good.
On a very tempting mark these days, twice a winner with some cut in the ground last year and has maybe found quick conditions against her so far this time around. Close Ayr fifth in May suggested her turn wasn't far away, and she is one to consider.
Forecasts
Cale Lane (3/1), Penny Pot Lane (4/1), The Lacemaker (11/2), Diamond Lady (6/1), Two Weeks (8/1), Poet's Princess (10/1), Socialites Red (11/1), Dandy's Beano (16/1), Northern Angel (28/1)
A few of these like to press on with it, and Socialites Red would be a danger to all if cutting loose on the front, but a chance is taken on PENNY POT LANE refinding some of her better form now the rain has come. She looks well handicapped and finally has conditions in her favour, so may be able to take advantage. Diamond Lady is another for whom the recent rain is a plus and could go well, and any money for Northern Angel would need noting.
- Penny Pot Lane
- Diamond Lady
- Socialites Red
