Running consistently well this year (always apprentice ridden) and has already won on the AW twice at up to 7f. Effective over this trip he ran another sound race last time over 6f at York (had draw advantage); handicap mark just nudged up again.
Twice a winner of 6f handicaps last year he's been gradually coming to the boil this season running his best race last time (finished one place behind Athollblair Boy). Not knocked about and 9lb lower than the start of the season; major chance.
Showed much improved form to take a 6f minor event at Windsor last time travelling well but having to overcome trouble in-running. The return to this trip appeared to suit and he now goes handicapping for an in-form yard off a workable mark.
Capable of some decent form when he was with Roger Charlton and starting to find his feet with this yard (only had two runs for them). His only win so far has come over 5f but he looks better over this distance and he's still not totally exposed.
Came back to life admittedly off a career-low mark on the AW at Lingfield over 6f earlier in the year. Form has rather a patchy look to it since and best judged on his Ascot effort (didn't finish race off) rather than his last start (hampered early).
Scene of his only win so far it looked as though a return here sparked a revival last time with his best run of the season; fallen below that winning mark. Finished mid-division in his two previous tries at 6f and that leaves a question mark here.
Showed the benefit of his reappearance run to spring a 25/1 surprise at Beverley over 5f off a 6lb lower mark. Two efforts since then have come at 6f and he's yet to prove that he really stays this trip and others preferred for that reason.
The addition of a visor has seen him take a recent step forward gaining two wins (second a dead-heat) at Ripon and Hamilton. Showed plenty of guts to win last time and the Ripon form has been franked; hard to ignore off 4lb higher.
Has run with credit on most occasions this season and the handicapper has relented (6lb below his last winning mark) and one of these will fall his way soon. Always vulnerable to one ahead of his mark though and looks to have a place chance at best.
Failed to progress as a juvenile and ran very poorly when last seen in action last year. Withdrawn (burst out of stalls) on her intended return to action and looks to have stiff task here on handicap debut.
Forecasts
How Far (10/3), Tallinski (9/2), Meshardal (6/1), Bahuta Acha (6/1), Dandy Highwayman (13/2), Athollblair Boy (7/1), Mr Wagyu (17/2), Blazed (14/1), Red Tycoon (22/1), Take Shelter (25/1)
Plenty of these have been in good form of late led by Mr Waygu who comes here looking to complete a hat-trick having shown a good attitude to dead-heat last time prior to his well advertised Ripon win. How Far makes his handicap debut off the back of a win which saw him progress and he’ll be a danger with the 3rd and 4th in a good sprint at York last time Athollblair Boy and DANDY HIGHWAYMAN of major interest. The former has run consistently well this year but it’s the latter which looks the main player here looking as though that run on the Knavesmire will have brought him to concert pitch. Blazed is another to keep a check on in the market; he still looks unexposed for this yard.
- Dandy Highwayman
- How Far
- Mr Wagyu
