Second in a maiden at Goodwood (1m2f, good/soft) last year remains his best piece of form but his failure to settle in races still costs him dear. Well backed last time but still ran keenly and hard to recommend whilst that trait remains.
Took a while last year to get going and it looks a similar pattern this year with both his runs looking to be needed. His third start last year proved to be when he took a big step forward and worth noting in the market.
New stable may take time to get to know him but he starts the season a decent mark and he's back on his last winning one here. Needs a strongly run race to be seen to best effect but nicely drawn if he does get the right pace to aim for.
A winner four times around here (1/6 over C&D) she comes here off the back of a win over shorter doing well from a wide draw. She showed a good attitude in the finish and it's now a question if she can cope with his mark (raised 3lb for her win).
Ended a long losing run when finding some form last year at Doncaster over 1m in the Legends race at the St Leger meeting. Ran respectably after that without winning but has returned from a break with two below-par runs; headgear left off again.
Her handicap win last time out wasn't anything special but she did at least take advantage of a drop in the weights and had the run of the race. Didn't win with much left in the tank so even a 2lb rise makes this harder from a wide draw.
Looked to run some fair races in Ireland but has looked regressive since being switched to his yard plummeting down the weights to no avail. Hood now added to the cheekpieces worn last time; makes little appeal.
Scored twice at the backend of last season relishing the heavy conditions on both occasions to win off slightly lower marks. Looks as though he has rather lost his way of late with the majority of his runs being poor and hard to fancy at the moment.
Most of her form is modest and she still has yet to win a race although she has shown a little more in her last two runs for this yard. Not particularly well treated off this mark and needs to find more to make an impression.
Two years now since his last win he did look as though last time he might be going to take advantage of a rapidly falling mark. This is tougher and he's not well drawn but he may be one to watch for back in 0-60 company.
Life won't be easy from 6lb out of the handicap and the widest draw of all. He often starts slowly as well and can race in a lazy fashion although a try at this 1m trip might be in his favour; tough task overall.

Hats Off To Larry (5/2), Make On Madam (4/1), La Sioux (9/2), Golden Guest (8/1), Clarabel (9/1), Vigee Le Brun (10/1), Red Charmer (11/1), Edgar Allan Poe (12/1), Off Art (14/1), Break The Silence (18/1), Gealach Ghorm (20/1), Majestic Stone (25/1)
Last time out winners La Sioux and Make On Madam need respecting here in a race that lacks much class for the grade and that duo are hard to rule out especially the latter who goes well here. Red Charmer is interesting now that he’s off a much reduced mark but the draw has not been kind to him at all with Clarabel worthy of a mention. Rebecca Bastiman has her team in good form this year and it might be worth taking a chance with EDGAR ALLAN POE who bounced back to form on his third start last year and this year’s campaign has the same profile about it and it would be no surprise to see him burst back to life. Golden Guest is another worth a market check as his new yard get to grips with him.
- Edgar Allan Poe
- Make On Madam
- Red Charmer
