At his best last year with plenty of cut in the ground and ended the year with a win at Redcar over this trip in soft ground. Now makes his handicap debut although his mark looks fair enough he should go well here.

Connections and backers alike need to keep the faith with this one having racked up a row of places last year. Did look rather unfortunate not to pick up at least one race last year and may be worth another chance.

Yet to win a race but did shape well on his only handicap start last season and doesn't look as though this mark would be beyond him. Has gone well with cut in the ground in the past and may do better this year having been gelded over the winter.

Kept very busy over the winter specifically on the Fibresand at Southwell winning his last two races there over 5f. Now off just 1lb higher than his last winning mark but tries turf for the first time and it remains to be seen how he handles it.

Didn't need to improve to get off the mark when an odds-on favourite at Catterick (5f, soft) in October. Now goes handicapping for the first time (mark looks fine) and still has potential to do better this year.

Gelded now having shown plenty of speed in his three runs last year when he was strongly fancied on his last two starts. Looks the sort to do well this year having been gelded and given some time; handicap debut.

One of those that has been running on the AW over the winter and that makes him more exposed than most and the chances are the handicapper has his measure now. 9lb above his last winning mark now and others have more scope.

Won at Southwell on the Fibresand on his debut when with Richard Fahey but has struggled a little since on turf/AW and already with his third trainer. Showed very little last time and needs to get back on track before he could be considered.

Seven starts but just one effort that could be called decent and that came when winning on his nursery debut off a mark of 62. Not seen for quite some while and his overall form doesn't entitle him to go close here.

Back onto turf (0/4) after nearly taking advantage of a fall in the weights to almost land an AW nursery in December but threw the race away close home. Not seen since and his profile throws up doubts about him and he's one to treat with caution.

Verdict

Quite a nice collection of young sprinters have gathered here and it could well be a race worth noting with Dandy’s Beano making his handicap debut here off top weight and looking likely to be suited by the surface. Qaaraat looked a rather luckless sort last year but he’s not one to give up on just yet with Choosey looking the sort to do well this year. The one with the most potential looks to be MACHREE as he was only lightly-raced last year and showed plenty of promise when winning his last start as a juvenile last year and he doesn’t look overburdened here. Of the bigger prices Two Seas was an expensive purchase who could step forward this year now he goes handicapping.
