Hard to fault his C&D form which is very consistent (3123214) and he may well be a lot happier back at this trip after failing to land a blow over 7f here last time. Now back down to near his last winning mark he has to be respected in this grade.

Showed improved form to score her initial win on her first outing on Fibresand she's not returned here since. Proved herself off higher marks than her first win on turf last summer; now off 6lb higher than last win back from a break (likes to lead).

Been kept busy over the winter and has mostly run with credit but does find himself well below his last winning mark. Turned in his best effort for a while last time in a first-time visor and well handicapped if he can build on that run.

Not seen on the Flat since scoring for a previous yard over 1m2f in a Dundalk maiden his two intervening runs have come over hurdles (both poor). Now with a new yard he makes his Fibresand debut over the shortest trip he's tried on the Flat.

All his recent winning form has come here at up to a mile and he's generally suited by a strongly run race (often struggles for pace in the early on). This mark looked tough but he ran well off it last time; can be competitive in a race run to suit.

Looks well suited to this surface but can be a little inconsistent on it at times although he bounced back to form here last time when dropped to a claimer. Despite acting on Fibresand this mark has looked beyond him here before and more needed.

Appeared to relish a switch to Fibresand when scoring here and breaking her maiden in the process and the followed up over C&D in a handicap. Failed to complete her hat-trick off this mark but ran free (also caught wide); best judged on earlier form.

Claimed by this yard after winning a Leicester seller (7f, good) in October his two runs for this yard have been sub-standard. Looked a hard ride on one of those runs he was well held in a handicap when last seen and now makes his Fibresand debut.

Certainly fared better than of late when making his Fibresand debut although that run came over a much longer trip. Looks capable of this mark but this will be the shortest trip that he's tried in handicaps and may find things happening too quickly.

Forecasts

Bid Adieu (3/1), Laqab (9/2), Kyllachys Tale (11/2), Showboating (6/1), Mama Africa (8/1), Monsieur Jimmy (8/1), Muqarred (10/1), Pearl Spectre (12/1), Sans Souci Bay (33/1)

Verdict

An interesting and quite challenging handicap a couple in this will be seen to good advantage if there is a sound pace to the race. There’s every chance that could happen with both Kyllachys Tale and Mama Africa likely to be ridden positively and that could set the race up nicely for SHOWBOATING. His form is consistent over C&D and with a good pace to aim at he will be a danger to all off this mark. Monsieur Jimmy has a similar run style but may not have as much latitude in his handicap mark. Pearl Spectre needs to build on his last run here to take a hand with this trip looking sharp for Bid Adieu.

  2. Mama Africa
  3. Monsieur Jimmy
