Won a 1m2f+ Dundalk maiden for John Oxx in July 2016, but paid the price for those gains starting off life in handicap company from an unattractive mark. However, ran well over C&D last week finishing 1L second to Bell Heather.
Doesn't win all that often, but generally best at this track. Scored off this mark for this rider over the extended mile in mid July, and also stays further, and this race represents his best chance of winning for a while.
Now a 12 race maiden, and continuing to fall in the weights. Difficult to draw too many positives from his recent C&D efforts, so he's easily overlooked.
No joy in 14 starts on the AW and has scarcely beaten a rival in his last three starts. Raced freely when well beaten over C&D earlier in the month, yet returns to action from the same mark.
Tis still a maiden after ten starts, and was beaten 8L when a runner up at this track over 1m4f in December. Tough to ascertain exactly what his best trip might be, but tries a 2f+ reduction in yardage tonight.
Back from a lengthy absence (since May 2016), with first time cheek-pieces applied. No doubting that he's best at this track (over C&D) and remains feasibly handicapped, but he looks one for the future rather than the present.
Didn't make the grade for William Haggas, and back-peddled after making a reasonable debut for this trainer in January 2017 (1m). Possible she'll be better away from Southwell, but off the track for 11 months, and is an 11 race maiden.
Deservedly off the mark at the 19th attempt over 1m at Kempton in early January, and has acquitted herself well off a revised mark since, including when upped to 1m2f at Chelmsford latest. Possibilities.
Kept busy this month, but blew his chance with a tardy start over a 1f shorter trip here latest. On a winnable mark, and went very close over C&D on his penultimate start when beaten ½L by Ravenhoe.
Not won for in excess of 12 months, and that was when trained in Ireland by Joseph O'Brien. Stays further than this trip, and was last seen when finishing third over 1m5f+ at Chelmsford in January (runner up won since).
Continues in decent shape, and was a C&D winner off just a 1lb lower mark in January. Finished just ½L behind Top Offer when third to Ravenhoe latest, so on that evidence should be thereabouts from a fair draw.
Mare who knows how to win races on the level (three time AW winner over 1m2f). Raced exclusively over hurdles since January 2017 without success, so it remains to be seen as to whether or not that's blunted her 'speed'.
Falling in the weights and that's unquestionably a significant plus. However, she's not been overly sharp since joining this trainer and Southwell is perhaps her venue of choice, despite being a previous C&D winner (seller).
Forecasts
My Fantasea (11/10), Sunshineandbubbles (11/2), Cat Royale (15/2), Dor's Law (8/1), Top Offer (12/1), Tis Wonderful (12/1), Warofindependence (25/1), Udogo (25/1), Kristal Hart (33/1), Anton Chigurh (33/1), Let Me In (50/1), Ramblow (66/1), Frantical (125/1)
A low grade, but fairly open handicap, so almost certainly not the kind of race to be going in all guns blazing. My Fantasea ran his best race for this trainer over C&D last week, and this ex John Oxx trained synthetics winner will be rightly popular in the market as a result. However, there's plenty of others with solid recent Wolverhampton efforts on their CV's. Both TOP OFFER and Sunshineandbubbles are closely matched on previous form. That said; the selection will appreciate a return to this longer trip after blowing the start completely here latest (shaped well considering), so he's tentatively taken to confirm placings with the Jennie Candlish trained runner (finished second and third respectively to Ravenhoe over C&D on February 2nd).
