Dam won over 2m3f over hurdles and appeals on pedigree. Yard has been quiet of late but won with its only runner in the last fortnight. Worth noting in the betting at least.
A half-brother to winning hurdler, Raptor, and several useful types from France. Stablemate of Adelphi Prince but looks the pick of the pair on paper. The betting can guide where this duo is concerned.
Half-brother to bumper winner Zulu Oscar and decent chaser Royal Salute. looks a long-term prospect and probably best watched as his yard has been very quiet recently.
From a yard which won a division of the 2015 renewal of this race and looks a similar type. cost £30,000 at the November sales at Cheltenham, having previously shown ability in point-to-points. Highly interesting contender.
Easy winner of a maiden point-to-point before joining his current yard for €4,000. Dam related to winners in this sphere but more than likely he'll be better with obstacles in the way.
Cost 4,000 gns and is a half-brother to useful Flat handicapper Brandon Castle. Stable not yet firing and looks another that can only derive benefit from this experience.
Cost £20,000 as a three-year-old, the gelding is a half-brother to a winning point-to-pointer and several winner of AQPS races in France. Highly respected yard but probably safe to just take notes on this occasion.
Fifth of nine in a similar race at Musselburgh on debut and was readily outpaced near the finish on that occasion. Already has improvement to find.
Flat-bred gelding from a yard that isn't really noted for winners in this sphere. Others more readily preferred.
Gets weight as the only filly in the line up but of a bumper and chase winner but posted a very modest effort on debut and is hard to fancy on that evidence.
Forecasts
The Some Dance Kid (11/4), Twotwothree (7/2), Justadreamyeken (7/2), Forest Fusion (13/2), Adelphi Prince (8/1), Madinat (14/1), Darry Desbois (20/1), Leostar (25/1), Welsh Rarebit (28/1), Midnight Kate (50/1)
Donald McCain is a trainer with a good record at this course and sends out the most interesting contender in the shape of THE SOME DANCE KID, who was easily the most expensive purchase at the sales. the gelding already has experience of point-to-points and it would be no surprise to see that give him the edge over the rest this time around. Darry Desbois makes more appeal than stablemate Adelphi Prince as the main threat, while strong support for Forest Fusion would be persuasive for a speculative punt to make the frame.
- The Some Dance Kid
- Darry Desbois
- Adelphi Prince
