Stepped back to 6f for the first time in a while when scoring decisively over C&D earlier this month (beat Tricky Dicky by 1L). Upped 5lb since, but his past form suggests that is no barrier to further success.
In decent form on turf earlier in the year, a 6f winner on soft ground at Haydock in June (soft). Moderate most latterly, but is an AW winner at Newcastle (1 from 5 there), and now tries Fibresand for the first time.
Couldn't covert a golden opportunity on ratings in a 7f seller here earlier in the month when beaten 1½L by Zaeem. However, it's possible he'll be stronger now (second run back off a break), albeit with 6f looking on the sharp side.
Has inched up 2lb since finishing 1L second to Mujassam over C&D earlier in the month, and whilst renewing that rivalry on 3lb better terms, he looks likely to find reversing those placings a challenge. 6f career record at Southwell reads 1,1,2.
Has only won one race away from his beloved Southwell, but importantly is yet to score over 6f. Turns out quickly under a mandatory 6lb penalty following last week's 7f course success (beat Custard The Dragon by 1L).
Now 9lb lower than when last successful at Newcastle in January (7f), and whilst often making the frame, he has clearly lost the winning thread. That said; his Haydock second to Hyperfocus (September) reads well and a return to 6f looks a positive.
A two time winner on Polytrack at Chelmsford in 2017, including over this trip on his penultimate start, this old-timer also boasts Fibresand winning form. Competitive off this mark and generally solid during December throughout his career.
Sprung a 33/1 surprise on debut in a modest 6f Newcastle maiden, but found the combination of a stronger heat and a step up in trip against him next time. Deserves more time in handicaps to find his true level/trip.
Hardly a stranger to success around here (7/28) with his last two AW wins coming over C&D (has won on turf twice in the meantime). Slipped back below his last winning Fibresand mark, but plenty to do with Mujassam judged upon his latest effort.
Forecasts
Tricky Dicky (11/4), Hammer Gun (7/2), Mujassam (4/1), Letmestopyouthere (7/1), Captain Lars (9/1), Handsome Dude (9/1), Pearl Nation (14/1), Crosse Fire (20/1), Bobby Joe Leg (20/1)
There's quite no place like Southwell for a number of these runners, with both Crosse Fire and Tricky Dicky particularly effective at this unique AW venue. However, both of those horses were no match for a rejuvenated MUJASSAM over C&D latest. Whilst that success came out of the blue for the David O'Meara trained runner, his strongest recent form has come over 6f, and a 5lb rise in the weights looks no barrier to further success based upon the pinnacle of his career form in late 2015/early 2016. Of the remainder Letmestopyouthere lurks on a mark from which he can potentially profit now dropped back to 6f.
