Still a maiden and not fared very well in terms of the position in the stalls. However, he's handily treated just now and, having been placed here from higher marks, the gelding has a decent chance of at least making the frame once more.

Stepping things up a few notches recently and comes into this on the back of a couple of fair efforts. never won over 1m yet, however, and needs to cheekpieces to drag a little extra from her reserves.

Still a maiden and starting to look exposed Placed over 7f here in September but was well held on that occasion, so also something to prove over the trip.

Winner at his beloved Brighton in September but mixed fortunes since then. Still 2lb higher and a bit to prove back on the AW; others more convincing.

Won over C&D a couple of times last spring but form soon took a dive and he's yet to show any signs of a revival. Return to this course is in his favour but plenty to prove after lacklustre efforts of late.

Relatively unexposed in handicaps and hold fair place claims on a literal reading of his penultimate start. Possible he had an excuse when eased when last seen but long absence if off-putting and he's probably best watched.

Made all to win a classified stakes at Kempton in October and has to be respected as that was an improved effort. This is a good bit tougher a career best effort in a handicap is now required.

1-12 so far and that win only in selling grade back in September. Held when favourite last time and a bit to prove back on this surface over a trip at which she's yet to excel over.

Form has been in steady decline since her best effort when second of six on debut at Ripon last August. This year's form has been poor and it's difficult to see where the requisite imporvement could come from.

On a fair mark and this is about his level, so possible the return to this track will bring about a bit of a revival. Often leaves himself with a bit to do, so looks risky for win only purposes.

Still a maiden but has been knocking on the door of late. Denied a run at a crucial stage at Wolverhampton on Saturday, so interesting she's out again quickly. One to monitor carefully.

Good effort over 7f here at the start of this month could prove be a good platform if he remains in good heart. That was by far his best effort, though, and this extra furlong may not be in his favour this time.

Posted a handful of fair efforts in recent times, but still been given a chance by the handicapper. Has gone well here in the past, so very feasible he could up his game once more, handily drawn and rider's 7lb claim also help.

Well adrift of the likes of Banta Bay latest and plenty to prove after that below par run. Previous two starts were a lot better, though, give him place claims if he can bounce back.

Best effort came in a poor seller last time out and hard to see her being the leading light from out of the weights on this occasion. Best left to her own devices on her first run at this course.

Poet's Quest77

Possible the switch to anew yard will prick her interest but her four previous starts have been quite modest and she's got a bit too much to prove for a recommendation on this occasion.

Forecasts

Belgravian (5/2), Anna Medici (11/4), Gracious George (6/1), Dor's Law (9/1), Mr Mac (10/1), Banta Bay (12/1), Rivers Of Asia (14/1), Tawfeer (14/1), Tasaaboq (16/1), Touch The Clouds (16/1), Sugar Beach (20/1), With Approval (20/1), Characterized (25/1), Lady Morel (33/1), Poet's Quest (33/1), Orientelle (50/1)

Verdict

Not a great race to round off the card but possibly one that is within reach for RIVERS OF ASIA, who will rarely be presented with a better opportunity to prove why he's been a allotted top weight in a handicap. The selection goes well her and is potentially well handicapped, so has a good bit more going for him than the majority. Dor's Law makes a quick reappearance after being denied a clear run at Wolverhampton at the weekend, and will be hard to keep out of the frame if she finds a little more on this occasion. Tasaaboq has also gone close from this sort of mark and has a very feasible chance of play a strong supporting role if he has one of his better days.
  1. Rivers Of Asia
  2. Dor's Law
  3. Tasaaboq
