Missed all of last season but showed ability remains this season with two good seconds before he bolted up at Market Rasen. Unable to score subsequently under a penalty at Cheltenham and now 13lb higher so life much tougher.

Developed into a pretty consistent hurdler and made a pleasing debut over fences last month when second at Plumpton. Bred to be a chaser so likely improver now over fences and longest trip he has faced today a likely bonus, big chance.

In good form last season culminating in a decent third in a valuable contest at Aintree. Off over a year since so presumably picked up issue or two but dangerous to dismiss him given progressive nature.

Almost three years since this veteran won a race although he was running well until coming to grief at Aintree last time out. Shorter trip here no issue so could go well if over that fall.

Better effort latest when second of nine at Wincanton, beaten 5L. Off same mark here so no reason he won't give a solid showing although others open to improvement which he isn't.

Age: 4|  Weight: 11-0| J: H Cobden| T: P F Nicholls| OR:  133

Won a decent chase at Enghien on his last start in France. Fortuitous winner on first start for this yard at Wincanton before running poorly when he scoped dirty at Warwick. Best days ahead of him and an interesting proposition here.

Landed a quick double last year but accumulated only letters in his form since in four starts. Very hard to fancy now.

Forecasts

Resolution Bay (2/1), Theatrical Star (4/1), Monsieur Co (11/2), Notarfbad (6/1), Sporting Boy (6/1), Princeton Royale (10/1), Fear Glic (16/1)

Verdict

The Philip Hobbs team are flying at the moment and they have a good chance here in promising young chaser RESOLUTION BAY who was decent enough over hurdles but always promised to be better still over fences and that looked the case in his chase debut at Plumpton last month. Monsieur Co was an expensive purchase from France where he won a three-year old chase and there is every chance he develops into a smart chaser for Paul Nicholls. Best of the rest may be Princeton Royale who was going the right way before his 16/17 season was curtailed early.
  1. Resolution Bay
  2. Monsieur Co
  3. Princeton Royale
