Wore first-time eyeshields (retained) when shedding maiden tag at Lingfield (1m2f, good to soft) 34 days ago. Up 3lb and longer trip but rider gets on well with the gelding and can't rule out on back of that improved showing.

Hints of promise in maidens on the Flat and over hurdles, likely found 7f at Chepstow last time too short and is an interesting contender upped in trip going handicapping for the first time.

Won a Lingfield seller in December over this trip, generally consistent this year without getting head in front and, with handicap mark slipping, no shock to find him grabbing a prize soon. Player back on AW.

Won a good ground handicap at Down Royal (1m2½f) in June on final start for previous yard, cut little ice on reappearance last month at Leicester in low-grade apprentice contest and has plenty to find on form at the moment.

Holy Roman Emperor has enjoyed himself since switching to handicaps, winning over 1m2f at Yarmouth (good to firm) in August and running sound race over this C&D 20 days ago, should have more to give.

Lightly-raced gelding made up ground late to finish ½L third of seven on handicap bow at Windsor over this sort of trip in August. Raised 2lb for that effort and every chance of progression now.

Form in three Flat runs on turf this year isn't inspiring, though has come down 10lb in the ratings as a result. Poor on previous run at this course (set pace and faded) but has won over 1m4f at Wolverhampton.

Now a nine-race maiden but there have been signs of progress on turf this summer, has questions to answer stepping up to this distance but place claims if stamina is there.

Winner of a minor Brighton handicap (1m2f, good to firm) in June but hasn't quite been at that level since; holds claims on his best form but something to find with a couple of these on the ratings.

Shed the maiden tag at the 21st time of asking 41 days ago at Bath (1m2f, good), staying on well to claim the spoils close home. 6lb rise not insurmountable.

Eight-race maiden has shown better form in three starts over the summer for step up in trip, best effort coming over 1m2f at Windsor in July. First-time visor added now but must find extra.

Filly has been hovering around the places in five turf starts this year without getting a win on the board. On a fair mark reverting to AW for the first time in handicap company. Watch betting.

Six-race maiden hasn't beaten a rival home in two outings since joining this yard. Up significantly in trip now but previous form doesn't suggest she'll be competitive.

A 21-race maiden, she posted a decent effort at Windsor in August over 1m2f but has suffered four heavy defeats since and is not appealing from 5lb out of the handicap now.

Verdict

Windsorlot, one of two last time out winners in the field, was staying on strongly at the line when recording his Windsor win so this longer trip should suit and he's considered. Similar prospecs are held by Transmitting, who benefitted from new headgear last time, and may go well again under a rider he gets on well with. Abel Tasman made a solid start in handicaps at Windsor in August and must be on the shortlist now but it might be worth siding with HEPPLEWHITE, a winner over this trip at Lingfield on the AW last year, after he ran well enough without enjoying much at Bath last time out. Back on an artificial surface, he is capable of popping up with another win soon.
