Dual 7f AW winner who has twice finished runner up over 1m here since the introduction of Tapeta in May 2016 (2,7,6,2). Races from the same mark as when beaten a head by Symbolic Star in May, and broadly okay since.
Won twice over this trip, including at Musselburgh in early May (beat New Abbey Angel by ¾L), and might benefit for a recent sharpener at Chelmsford, but still 5lb above her last winning mark.
Nine race maiden, who quite feasibly doesn't stay 1m2f, but ran his best race when a 1¼L runner up to Belisa over 1m here in June and could be on a reasonable mark (just 1lb higher).
Not beaten far at all on debut over 1m here in September 2016, but much more moderate since and the beneficiary of a significant drop in the weights. More required, but the hood could bring about some improvement.
Mid-division finishes in three runs in 1m maidens between mid July and early August (on a variety of ground conditions). Drops in trip for AW debut and handicap bow.
Proven performer over a variety of trips down the years, and ran okay on his penultimate start at Redcar in early August (6f), but he just doesn't seem to win these days. However, a reduced mark of 55 gives him the opportunity.
Exposed maiden and had a varied career having contested three Point-to-Points earlier this year. Finished runner-up over 6f here on his Flat return but disappointed twice since under various bits and bobs of equipment.
Seemingly more effective on the AW than turf and doesn't quite run to his best over 1m. However is unbeaten (2 from 2) over this C&D, and whilst 6lb higher, did win off a similar mark at Musselburgh in mid June.
Stable took this last year with Cool Strutter, and this filly is herself a four time AW winner (twice over 7f), but her form since early May has regressed and this is her first visit to Newcastle.
Nine race maiden whose two best efforts have come over this 7f trip (beaten a neck by Clear As A Bell from this mark at Redcer in July). His most recent form has been franked and a stiff 7f looks ideal.
18 race maiden who can be relied on to run her race. Solid enough in two starts for this yard and place claims from a slightly reduced mark if the first time cheek-pieces help.
Rear division finishes in maidens (1m to 1m2f) and makes his handicap debut from a lowly mark. Potentially one to watch in the market given that the stable landed a gamble in a Hexham bumper last month.
Ten race maiden who finished third behind Clear As A Belle and Darvie at Redcar in late July (7f), but considered on that showing with not much too find. Not fully exposed on the AW.
Eight race maiden whose neck second to Great Colaci at Musselburgh in mid June (7f good to firm) is increasingly looking like an 'outlier' in an otherwise unconvincing form profile.
Forecasts
Regal Decree (11/2), Steel Helmet (11/2), Great Colaci (6/1), Masquerade Bling (7/1), Darvie (8/1), Isntshesomething (11/1), Excellent Story (12/1), Mr Coco Bean (14/1), Grey Destiny (14/1), Tango Sky (16/1), Broughtons Fancy (22/1), Simmo's Partytrick (25/1), Vecheka (40/1), Kelpie Spirit (66/1)
Plenty of interwoven form-lines in Division 1 of this low grade 7f handicap. Great Colaci is unbeaten over this C&D, and also was just on top of Kelpie Spirit when scoring at Musselburgh in June, and whilst respected, he's maybe just gone off the boil a fraction of late. Regal Decree is a ten race maiden, but is closely matched with fellow nine race maiden Darvie on their July Redcar clash in which Clear As A Belle just edged out the pair. However, Darvie will potentially prove most suited by this stiff 7f trip with his most recent Doncaster effort appearing fairly solid form. With no strong preference, a chance is taken on the top-weighted GREY DESTINY. He's broadly consistent, and with fairly respectable course form (over 1m) could well out run his projected odds.
- Grey Destiny
- Darvie
- Regal Decree
