Makes her handicap debut here having yet to show much in maidens. Top weight looks a tall order on her first attempt at such a race, and her best effort to date was probably her sole race on turf.

On a long losing run but is capable of running a very big race when he wants to. Much more exposed than many of his contenders here but interesting to see first time headgear applied given his age.

Beaten favourite at Wolverhampton last time and now steps up to this trip for the first time. Not sure to stay this far but impressed when winning on her penultimate start and holds leading claims if the distance suits.

Eight-race maiden, and though she has hinted at ability on occasion her sole race over this trip was a poor one and dropping back down in distance clearly wasn't connections' first plan.

Off the mark at Wolverhampton in April, but not at that level since, including when well beaten in Jersey. Latest even ignoring that run he is difficult to fancy based on his performances on turf, where his handicap mark is 6lb lower.

Wasn't up to winning a maiden and has been equally ineffectual since switching to handicap company. Down 5lb from his most recent poor effort at Kempton and needs to show much more.

Makes his first appearance at this trip on this stable debut and should stay this far based on pedigree. Top apprentice rider claims a useful 3lb and isn't discounted based on what he has shown so far.

Yet to get off the mark but has looked at his best over this trip and acquitted himself well at Southwell latest when the surface may not have suited him. Should be capable of winning a contest of this nature at some point.

Well beaten on each of his starts to date, in both maidens and handicap company. On the same mark as when beaten 31L into last over shorter here last time, and the recent change of stables needs to have turned around his form.

Forecasts

Fantasy Gladiator (5/2), La Isla Bonita (3/1), Break The Silence (3/1), Eternal Dream (6/1), Hidden Stash (10/1), Lazizah (10/1), Sir Jamie (14/1), Sovrano Dolce (28/1), Golden Harbour (33/1)

Verdict

Very few of these arrive here in any kind of form, and despite his age it may be worth chancing FANTASY GLADIATOR. Michael Appleby's veteran hasn't won in a fair amount of time, but can run to a higher level than this race will require when at his best form, and it is fascinating to see him fitted with first time blinkers and eye shield given his age. His recent performances at around this trip have been particularly taking, and he is taken to see off La Isla Bonita, who has been running well on the all-weather recently, and Hidden Stash, who Hollie Doyle claims 3lb off the back of for the first time.
  1. Fantasy Gladiator
  2. La Isla Bonita
  3. Hidden Stash
