Has his optimum conditions and trip is now able to take a slight drop in grade. 7lb lower than his most recent win at Haydock in October and shaped last time as if a return to form is possible.
4lb higher than when scoring on fast ground at Nottingham (1m½f) in May but has been well held in two starts since then and despite being dropped 2lb going into this he has a bit to prove.
Would ideally prefer fast ground and 6f, and although he has run well over this far, recent efforts have not suggested that a drop back to this mark are about to yield immediate gains.
1lb lower than his only win, which was at Haydock (1m, good to soft) last season. His best form has been with some ease in the ground, as was the case at Leicester last time, but he is in good heart and capable of going very close.
Both her wins have been on good to soft, including over C&D last time. Raised 5lb for that, she will need a career best to follow up, but she is enjoying a good season and is entitled to plenty of respect.
Ran well enough here on her only previous visit and scored at Chepstow (7f, good to firm) in June. 1lb higher than that today, but has a little to prove after being comfortably held on her last two runs.
Yet to add to his Salisbury maiden win over this trip last season and well held in all four starts this term, including from this mark at Goodwood last time. Others preferred.
3lb higher than when breaking her duck at Wolverhampton (1m½f, AW) in May, but has not been as effective in two subsequent starts. Cheekpieces did not speak a revival last time.
Has a couple of 6f wins to his name at this venue and goes well at this trip too. Would ideally prefer quicker ground, but should appreciate the drop to this grade and is not ruled out if able to run to the best of his current ability.
Has been in good form of late, including when a 2L third over C&D two starts ago. From the same mark today she has frame claims.
Forecasts
Flyboy (10/3), Tigerwolf (5/1), Coral Sea (5/1), Munfallet (15/2), Carpe Diem Lady (8/1), Favourite Royal (9/1), Thaqaffa (9/1), Andalusite (10/1), Red Tycoon (20/1), Swiss Cross (25/1)
The veteran Swiss Cross looks capable of having a say again, though he would ideally prefer to hear his hooves rattle. Andalusite has an each-way shout, while Coral Sea needs to make further improvement to follow up her C&D success. A return to form for Munfallet is not ruled out, though preference is just for FLYBOY, who arrives in good form and whose chance would be enhanced by any rain.
- Flyboy
- Swiss Cross
- Munfallet
