Won a weak-looking maiden on debut but hasn't been able to build on that since, including when switching to handicap company. Mark still looks high enough and he has something to prove in a race such as this.

Has run well in two starts since winning at Beverley having not been particularly fancied on either occasion. Needs a step forward now but that's possible given his profile.

Generally consistent type who went within a neck of victory at Haydock last time. Up 3lb for that which could be considered a little bit harsh but he has definitely been improving save for a disappointment at Ascot in May, and another big run can be expected.

Won a weak Wolverhampton maiden two starts ago but that came in between too much tamer efforts and he looks to have it all to do on the basis of his handicap debut last time.

Didn't really threaten on his first two starts in maidens, with both of those coming on the all-weather, and didn't really improve for a switch to turf last time. This looks to be a big ask with that in mind.

Won at Goodwood last summer but hasn't been able to build on that since and remains on a higher handicap mark even following a series of disappointing performances. Best run for a while last time, but likely to come up short again here.

Unexposed type who took a maiden at Wetherby at the third time of asking last time out (7f, good). Opening handicap mark looks fair and interesting to see how he does here.

Went close on debut in a poor Newbury maiden but failed to progress from that in two subsequent runs, and needs to put that level of form well behind him now making his handicap debut.

Only win to date has come over 7f but no reason why she shouldn't be as effective over this longer trip. Addition of cheek pieces should help and this mark looks to be reasonable.

Off the mark on handicap debut last time and no surprise to see him raised 6lb as a result. Has shown plenty of improvement through his starts so far, though, and has scope to potentially develop into a fair handicapper.

Ran a fair race on handicap debut last time having not been disgraced in three maidens. Clearly going the right way with the scope to improve and conditions here to suit.

Hasn't really managed to land a blow either in maidens or handicap company and needs to find some seemingly unlikely improvement in order to figure here.

Forecasts

Dellaguista (4/1), The Eagle's Nest (6/1), Komodo (13/2), Helovaplan (8/1), Inner Circle (8/1), Procurator (8/1), Aelius (10/1), Proud Archi (10/1), Weloof (10/1), Fayez (20/1), Ascot Week (25/1), Natajack (33/1)

Verdict

A competitive looking affair, where HELOVAPLAN could provide the answer. He is up 6lb for winning on handicap company last time but that can come as little surprise and he definitely has the scope to improve, both to win this and into a decent handicapper in the medium-term. Dellaguista has only won over 7f but should be just as effective over this trip and is preferred next, ahead of the unexposed Komodo, who makes his handicap debut here.
  1. Helovaplan
  2. Dellaguista
  3. Komodo
