Capable sort on his day but consistency isn't a forte and he arrives here under something of a cloud having reportedly bled when pulled-up at Chelmsford last time out. Hard to place maximum faith in.

Has scored here in the distant past (7f, good to firm) but it's now 14 races since he last won a race and he could only beat one home over C&D last time out. Others appeal more even allowing for a 3lb drop.

Not many miles on the clock and has shaped as though this 1m trip is what he needs in three recent handicaps over 7f, staying on to reach the frame each time. Of obvious interest with De Sousa taking over in the saddle.

Dropped away tamely over 1m2f here (good) last month and hasn't won for over 18 months. That said, he had gone close in a couple of 1m handicaps off this mark over C&D previously so dangerous to dismiss.

Filly has had her issues in the past but posted a decent effort when a 4L fifth of nine over 7f here (good to firm) last month. Couldn't improve on that at Salisbury next time, however, and has stamina to prove over 1m.

Hasn't achieved a great deal in six starts on the AW so far, including when stone last over an extended 1m last time. Glimpses of promise over a longer trip previously but needs some respite from the assessor.

Looks of limited ability on the evidence of her 12 starts so far, though she did finish a runner-up over 7f at Chelmsford earlier in the year. Respectable effort over 1m2f here last time and may do better over this trip.

Gained the last of four AW wins in a lowly handicap at Kempton over a year ago but remains winless from 17 starts on turf and struggled over 7f here last time. Hard to get excited about.

Lightly-raced and flickers of promise when fourth in a 6f Chelmsford maiden on final juvenile start. Should come on for a low-key introduction over 7f at Leicester and could be a player if stamina holds out over this longer trip.

Beat just the one rival home in three starts in 7f maidens as a juvenile and dropped away tamely on seasonal/handicap debut over 1m2f at Brighton last month. Others preferred.

Forecasts

Swilly Sunset (6/4), Hold Firm (9/2), Harlequin Rock (5/1), Banta Bay (6/1), Cloud Nine (6/1), Tommy's Secret (7/1), Moving Robe (12/1), The Happy Hammer (14/1), Break The Silence (16/1), Seeing Things (16/1), Tilsworth Micky (33/1), Chandrayaan (50/1)

Verdict

A race lacking in depth which looks within the range of SWILLY SUNSET with the booking of Silvestre De Sousa a huge positive. The lightly-raced gelding has been shaping as though this 1m trip is exactly what he needs and he should have too much for the more exposed Hold Firm and Harlequin Rock, though Banta Bay is a potential fly in the ointment.
