Formerly with Roger Varian, he improved to reach the frame in a couple of handicaps over this trip early on this season but took a step backwards when well beaten over 1m2f (good) at Lingfield latest. A 2lb drop may be insufficient.

Competitive off much higher marks than this at times last summer but ended the year on a low note and has struggled to land a blow in both starts this season. Questions to answer but mark is starting to plummet.

Albert Boy8

11/10
Has taken full advantage of a falling mark this year, winning at Brighton (1m4f, good to firm) and an apprentices event under this rider at Leicester (1m4f, good to soft) last week. Obvious claims from the same mark in his current mood.

Still a maiden after 18 starts but her relative consistency - she has placed four times this year - means she is getting little respite from the handicapper. Lacklustre effort under an apprentice last time and was behind Albert Boy at Brighton last month.

Shift On Sheila22
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-4| J: Rob Hornby| T: Mrs P Sly| OR:  55
5/1
Signs of improvement when not beaten too far in a couple of runs on polytrack last autumn and should come on for a low-key reappearance at Wetherby (1m2f, good) last month. Yard's few runners going well, worth a second look.

Stun Gunp20
Age: 7|  Weight: 9-0| J: Kieren Fox| T: D Shaw| OR:  51
8/1
Best on the all-weather (four wins on fibresand) but also handles turf, having won at Leicester a couple of years ago. Stayed on well over 1m2f here (good) last month when third behind Street Art and he has possibilities off the same mark.

Forecasts

Albert Boy (11/10), Askari (4/1), Shift On Sheila (5/1), Go On Gal (6/1), Stun Gun (8/1), Saga Sprint (33/1)

Verdict

ALBERT BOY looked on very good terms with himself when scoring decisively under today's pilot in an apprentices event at Leicester last week and, with no penalty to carry, this looks an ideal opportunity to follow up. Stun Gun is likely to appreciate this slightly longer trip on the evidence of his latest effort and may prove the biggest danger, though there may be more to come from Shift on Sheila.
  1. Albert Boy
  2. Shift On Sheila
  3. Stun Gun
