Lightly raced gelding who failed to land a gamble at Chelmsford on his handicap debut. Proved that showing to be all wrong when always travelling well and scoring with something to spare here last time. A 6lb penalty may not be be enough to halt his progress.
Soundly beaten in three maidens and more was expected on his handicap debut last time. Pulled hard that day and was tailed off last. Hard to find any positives in that performance.
Performances have been patchy this winter. Looks held by Lord Murphy judged on his latest run but he has posted better efforts this season. May produce one of his better runs but others look more likely.
Dual C&D winer who has now dropped to a mark 5lb below than his latest success. Tends to miss the break and best achievements have come in strongly run races or over further. Will pop up one day when everything falls right for him, but there is no guarantee that today will be the day. 5lb better of with Lord Murphy with 3¾L to find on running lat time.
Still a maiden after 22 starts and has a large absence to overcome. Has first run for new yard who need to bring him back to the levels he reached in 2015.
15 race maiden who has posted his best efforts around here. Stable have been going through a quiet spell by their standards. Needs to produce a bit extra and a good young rider has been employed to find it.
Beaten an aggregate of 134L on his last two starts. Has a chance on his best form but obviously well short of that level right now.
Lightly raced sort who appeared to be getting the hang of things when staying on to grab third here in January. Failed to reproduce that effort over further next time but shaped better last time. Has more potential than most in this lineup and is one for the shortlist.
On a losing sequence stretching back two years and taking in 20 races. Has shown some positive signs recently but his style of running requires a strong gallop and there is no obvious pace angle in this.
Remains a maiden after 14 races. Offered a bit more last time but form suggests he is held by a few of these.
Will be trying to open his account at the 19th time of asking. Showed glimpses of ability in 2015 but nothing more recently.
Has gone off at long odds and shown little in recent starts on different surfaces. Never a threat in a similarly weak race last time and hard to fancy here.

Lord Murphy (6/4), Zubaidah (9/2), Captain K (13/2), Sir Jamie (7/1), Mount Cheiron (8/1), Free To Roam (8/1), West Leake (16/1), Sarakova (16/1), Pipers Piping (22/1), Gamesters Lad (28/1), Dibloam (28/1), Overrider (50/1), Ormering (50/1)
LORD MURPHY has recent winning form and the potential for further improvement. Those factors make him the logical selection in a weak contest. He holds a few of these on the basis of his latest victory when he won with a bit in hand. The main danger would appear to be Sir Jamie who ran well in defeat at Lingfield last week. He is another lightly raced sort who is running into form. Mount Cheiron is more than capable of winning a race like this. He is weighted to finish closer to Lord Murphy today and that gap will narrow further should the race be run to suit his needs.
- Lord Murphy
- Sir Jamie
- Mount Cheiron
