160,000 gns yearling, and a half-brother to a number of winners. Third and final run as a juvenile (all over 7F) at Newmarket in August 2016 was his best effort to date (fourth to Law and Order). Upped in trip for three-year-old bow and AW debut.

Once raced colt by Harlan's Holiday out of Reflections who dwelt and never figured over 7F at Chelmsford (seventh to Aventinus) in mid September. Half brother to five winners including Mirror Lake, Mirrored and My Shadow who all performed well at upto this trip of 1m2f. Likely to be seen in a much better light granted that debut experience.

Cost a mere 6,500 gns as a yearling, and has been comfortably beaten on each of his two juvenile starts, including on synthetics (Tapeta) at Newcastle in November. Upped 2F in trip and one of the likely outsiders today.

30,000 gns yearling by Exceed and Excel whose two starts to date have come over differing trips on the Tapeta at Newcastle. He showed some promise when fourth over 7F to the William Haggas trained Native Soldier on debut in November, but didn't take the anticipated step forward next time upped to 1m2f when a disappointing fifth of ten to Doctor Bartolo. Needs to show more now blinkered.
Unraced 26,000 gns yearling by Tagula out of Trebles. His pedigree is a mixed bag, and as a half-brother to various European winners at upto 1m, one might have slight stamina concerns, but as he's also a half-brother to a winning hurdler and chaser (Triple Chief), he should be fine over 1m2f at this track.

Saw off all bar the easy to back Lopes Dancer at Newcastle last week (1m2f) on his third career start. Likely to be suited by this easier track, but does look vulnerable to any improving sorts with his winning chances in maiden company likely to diminish in the weeks ahead.

Green and likely to improve for her debut fourth of eight to Mori Yoshinari over 1m at Lingfield in February, with the runner up Oud Metha Bridge successful next time at Newcastle. Related to a couple of minor winners, with improvement expected now she steps up in trip.

800,000 gns yearling by Street Cry and a half-sister to Oaks runner up Secret Gesture as well as Group 3 winner Sir Isaac Newton. Yet to show her true worth on the track, with her debut Salisbury effort (7F) arguably better than her fourth of 10 here over 1m a month later. Bred to be suited by stepping up in trip for her seasonal return.

Forecasts

Amlad (11/10), Secret Soul (9/2), Many Waters (5/1), Inscribe (8/1), Mesophere (8/1), Wefait (16/1), Ragtag Rascal (40/1), Light Gunner (200/1)

Verdict

Secret Soul will catch most of the attention in this 1m2f maiden, with considerable improvement to be expected now that she steps up in trip, with the primary objective almost certainly to win a race with this costly but well bred filly. Mesophere was a disappointment when expected to go well at Newcastle last time, and he seemed to have little excuse for that moderate effort, and it's far from ideal to see the blinkers already applied. The form of Wefait is also far from strong, so a chance is taken that AMLAD can improve past these rivals on his three-year-old debut having appeared to leave his first two runs well behind him when rounding off his juvenile campaign with a career best effort at Newmarket in August.
  1. Amlad
  2. Many Waters
  3. Secret Soul
