Winner under today's jockey over 6f at Wolverhampton last week. Turns out quickly under a penalty here and a good chance of following up if staying this trip (beaten on all three attempts at beyond 7f so far).
Maiden after five outings but made a solid start when beaten 1L into third in a handicap at Wolverhampton when last seen out in October. Drops back in trip here and has a poor draw to overcome. Yard have a 43% strike rate recently (3./7).
Finished runner-up off this mark in this grade having been slow leaving the stalls over C&D on his penultimate outing. Has disappointed at Lingfield since hower but interesting if putting that poor run behind him.
Out of form in the main of late including when beaten 5L into fifth at Wolverhampton early last month. Had a break since but poor record on AW (0/11 and no places).
Making his debut for this yard when 2L third over C&D (Breakhart just in front) last month. Has been dropped 1lb for that effort and likely to run well once more.
Won twice this time last year off significantly higher marks and latest effort better than the bare result suggests having been hampered. Interesting in first time cheekpieces.
Placed the last twice including at Newcastle over this trip last time out but remains a maiden after 13 attempts. Top jockey replaces apprentice here and worth a check in the market.
First signs of form for this yard when not beaten far into fifth over C&D in this grade earlier this month. Dropped 1lb for that effort with blinkers and tongue tie both retained here.
Raced prominently when finishing runner-up over C&D last month on second outing for this yard. Won off a 6lb higher mark on turf 11 months ago and likely to run well in this.
All three career wins have come at this track including over C&D just over a year ago. Finished a close third when finishing well over C&D last time out and looks the one to beat here.
Ran better than the bare result suggests here last time out and won off a much higher mark in the past, Over three years since his last win however and tongue tie and visor return here (wore tongue tie and blinkers last time).
Sole win came on turf in France for previous yard. Well beaten in first time cheekpieces over C&D last time out but placed off 6lb higher mark in turf in 2016 and worth a check in the market.
Tried over 2m and in a hurdle for previous yard and well beaten on first start since returning to current stable here last time out. More needed in this.
Veteran has 11 wins to his name and not beaten far over C&D last month. Placed in only previous attempt in this class early last month but vulnerable to younger rivals.
Forecasts
A Boy Named Sue (4/1), Broughtons Fancy (5/1), Gavarnie Encore (11/2), Free To Roam (9/1), Breakheart (10/1), Rafaaf (11/1), Misu Pete (12/1), West Leake (16/1), Monologue (20/1), Rising Sunshine (20/1), Caius College Girl (20/1), Never To Be (20/1), Altaira (25/1), Zebedee's Son (33/1)
A BOY NAMED SUE has an interesting jockey booking here having been ridden by an apprentice when finishing in the frame the last twice. The selection wore a visor for each of those outings and that seems to have brought about a return to form and he can take this competitive looking contest at the expense of top weight and winner over 6f last time out Broughtons Fancy. Of the remainder Gavernie Encore ran well here last time out and can claim third.
- A Boy Named Sue
- Broughtons Fancy
- Gavarnie Encore
